Well I have owned my MINI since 2001 and I need a change. I have been looking at other cars like the new MX-5 and new POLO GTI (and a second hand Cooper s), all nice cars BUT I would have to spend 5000+ for a these new cars.
So I am thinking of adding a few bit and bobs to my MINI, like a ECU superchip remap and maybe nice full leather interior , But I am thinking it is worth doing this work on a MINI one . But I don't realy want to spend 5000+ new a newer car (need to buy a house)
What do yo think.
Was MK1 Black MINI ONE (Sept 2001 Build) NOW NEW MX-5
I've just been down to Lohens and had my MINI ONE chipped. Mick suggested that it increased the HP to 130. I'd certainly recommend doing that. It gives the car a completely new life!
Insurance companies are reporting an increase in the number of motor claims being declined due to non-disclosure of modifications made to vehicles.
This trend can only increase with people being encouraged to customise their cars with television programmes such as 'Pimp My Ride' on MTV .
What people need to take into account is that modifications will increase the cost of repairs to the car and also the desirability of the car to thieves.
Chipping normally increases the power output of a car, therefore a car may have the performance of a larger engine, so the insurance company will need to be informed.
As an example I informed by insurance company when I had my JCW Sound Kit fitted to my Cooper, which cost me an additional 75 pounds on my premium.
