Black Cooper 2002 Mini One Selling On "Auto-Trader"...Help Needed

Hi Guys

I Have Found a Mini In Which I am Very Interested In, However The Only Concern With It Is The Price The Owner Is Asking For.

My Question To You is If The £8000 Asking Price Seems Pretty Reasonable, Or Should I Offer The Guy Something Cheaper Around The £7k Mark?

The Car Itself Is Fairly Kitted Out As You Will See With The Pictures In The Link, With an Aerodynamic Kit, Wheels Etc Having Been installed Already For Me. This Then Would Save Me A Fortune As I Would Be Wanting To Install Mods Like This Myself.

Anyway Guys...The Link Is Below & The Mini I am Looking At Is the Second One Down The List (Black).

Auto Trader UK - Used Car Search - Used Cars for sale online.

Cheers Guys &...

your paying for his "boy racer" add ons.. thats all..

It's not worth 8k although I would say that it is worth 7k atleast, possibly 7,500 if bought from a dealer though....
Nice car non the less, I just sold a 2001 Mini One and they do suffer form rattles and sloppy suspention etc. Just make sure its bluefinned ASAP.

I recently sold my Black MINI One 2004 53 reg with full Cooper S body kit, spoiler and 17" R90 alloys for £8400 and that only had 25k miles on it. I think you should be able to haggle with him a bit. His interior is very basic doesn't even have sports seats which mine had half leather.

heres my thread about my sale at the time. To compare the cars.

It is very nice but these additions don't nessessarily add price. The book price for this year One is approx £7000.

But all told I don't think hes ripping you off as its obiously been cared for and loved.

Another thing to think about is that it's out of warrenty this year, might be out of TLC aswell. Theres a cooper down that list for only £8000 thats a 54 reg. Its alll up to you though car purchasing are all personal choice.

Too much 8k for a mini one of that age, i was at a BCA Car auction 2 weeks ago, they regulary hold BMW sales and 04 reg mini ones with about 15- 25000 miles on were going for 7800 - 8k.. facelift model ones too...

Mine was originally on for £9999 and I knocked it down to £9400 and I sold for £8400. I didn't get offers for more than I received so I suggest looking at the prices as a guide. Pick one thats approx £1000 more than you want to pay and offer your price and see what happens. I wanted to sell mine within the month that it was on. It costs £45 to put them in so it would be another £50 to relist.

Thanks Peeps For Your Honesty, much appreciated.

It has saved me from diving into this car and Forking Out £8k for Which Could Be a Shed. I will Have another look at the car tommorrow and consider if its worth contacting the owner asking about a price cut. I'll also check if it has been 'bluefinned'.

"JonMorgan" I couldn't agree more that you are paying for the 'boy-racer' add ons.

Thanks Again

Thank You Laura for your comparison against your ex Mini One, All I can say is your previous mini is sweet! The interior on yours is stunning with the leather seats etc, where as the Mini I am Looking at has Fabric Seats...and a CD Player .

I can see myself holding back for a while now for a facelift model...does anyone have pictures showing the differences between the facelifted models? Sorry...just that i am new to the Mini scene and to be perfectly honest am a tad clueless

Oh and also Laura, I am restricted to a Mini One due to being 17 years old in February. The Insurance on a Cooper is Simply too high for me. I have been quoted £1300 for the One Through Quinn-Direct...Bargain!! Where as £2000 quotes against a Mini Cooper!!

Thanks Again For Your Honesty and Comparisons

If it were me...I'd offer the owner £7,200 tops (but only if you really, really, really must have this car instead of another).
If he says no deal then I'd walk away.
There are plenty of ONEs around for sale.
Always remember with any volume car (and the MINI is a volume car) it's a buyers market...NOT a sellers.
Buy the best specced car you can afford (min. spec should include a/c, alloys and CD...anything else is a bonus) but do not pay over the odds. A bodykit adds nothing to the price, whatever the seller might say.
Just my two cents...
