Personnaly i do take what people say with a pinch of salt...

i have a friend with a VTR and to him its the fastest car on the road

The only reason is that he's mainly the one gunning his car to the edge of blowing up, and the other car is laughing at him being a tit! everytime i see him he has another story of the last car he raced and won and im sat there thinkin in my mind "is he making a joke or something"

you cant say your car is "Faster" just because you beat someone off the lights, for example what if he ddint fully put his foot down and wasnt interested in racing you and then you go ohhh i won the race when really you ddint win anything etc etc theres many factors to consider

this is only my opinion and not meaning to insult anyone at all hear!

Have you all tried driving in Italy?? This is where you get an Opel Zafira at 130 km/h in the motorway just 2 inches from your bumper...the only helpful solution to such incidents is to pull to the right and let the **** pass you...I am not worried about the capabilities of my car anyway

Your car is faster than mine is all a load of C***!
When a VTR, VTS, VXR stand next to a Jag, BMW, Merc at the light reving their cars to high hell. You will notice people let them get on with it. Its not worth the 3 points and at the end of the day they are driving a car which when crashed will most definately not help them out.
People rev up next to me all the time and I now just let them get on with it.

A lotus exige in a 130 bhp mini!? I love minis but no way! Also A VRS would always be a challenge to a cooper, it has so much torque, remember on topgear how one pulled away easily from a cooper on the test track. Sure it cant handle but thats another story... If the VRS had a remap then as mentioned before, youd be dust! But remember, you'll always be having more fun

Yeah for sure but if its next to a 220 bhp jag or even a rx8 all normal business cars the little div's in trakkies and caps don't stand a chance and they still try. even when they have four fat mates shoved in. The mini is nippy and on streets handles well. But people still look at it more and want it more because it looks exclusive and above all safe.

boys recollect your thoughts now!

The mini is about class and style and a statement you have taste!

Not about racing a saxo or a vrs at the lights!

You wanna race at the lights buy a french fibreglass heap (VTR/VTS) and mod that it WILL beat an S!

The sorry tale as One's become available to boy racers and spoilt kids! oh dear!

Rant over!

But Mini2 is about appreciation of the mini not boasting about boy racing against saxo's and skodas!

I have to say i have never given in ago with a VTS, but i would like to see how i would be! My 0-60 is the same as a VTS, but still as its lighter i think it may still have the edge on me.

Fair point! I had a pug 106 diesel and it kept breaking, and then the engin broke when i started it up one morning.

I have to thank that car 4 breaking though, coz i then went and got me a Mini a week later!

Speaking from experience here ive owned and since sold my MINI One which had a bluefin remap, JCW filter and full exhaust system, it was a great car but after 45000 miles it was time to move on

Im now driving a little C2 VTS and can assure you it would whip the pants off my old car, your all correct in that build quality of Citroen is nowhere near as good as MINI and I wont doubt that, but for me at this moment in time with buying a house it was a good little motor to go for

I try not to get involved in these ''who's car is the fastest debates'' and things like this in some ways are not actually allowed to be discussed on this forum but just thought id give my 2p's worth as ive got experience driving both cars

Reading this thread, I wonder what the average age is? Stick to the track if anyone would like to test how fast their little souped up MINI can go and leave the rest of us to drive on the roads in peace

The Skoda is actually a pretty decent car, speed aside or whatever it's probably a notch above the MINI in terms of overall build

I disagree, i mean its a Skoda!

As for the average age, i mean i will probably bring the average down as i am only 19 years old.... Nor am I a chav boy racer! i have held a full uk driving license for over 2years now with out any speeding points! So for the sarcy comment about age its pretty irrelevant and has no corelation what so ever to peoples behaviour on the road!

Agreed minipetrolhead. I too am 19 years old, held my license for almost 3 years, have IAM, pass plus, skid pan training. The lot I'm not saying I drive slow though just sensible. I have driven a VRS many times before and it is quick, not so much over 60/70 though and its incredibly boring to drive, has none of the character or engine noise of the mini

If you read my post correctly I didn't actually imply any particular age bracket here for all I know you could have been any age between 17 and 70. Nor did I imply personally towards yourself that you were A) a boy racer or B) a chav. Facts are worst drivers on our roads today are generally over 60 years of age, old habits die hard, but most speed related accidents are generally caused by the under 25's. Pretty relevant I think.
