United-Kingdom ongoing problem...

We have a 53plate mini one. Whilst under warranty, we found it with the doors unlocked and the windows fully down. A repair was done, in what we were informed was a 'cap' on the electrics.

Now 2 years on, and out of warranty, the same thing has happened again. It was windy and hailing. Torrential rain seemed to have caused the first 'unlock'.

BMW are insisting we pay a 50pound diagnostic, before they (may) meet the repair cost (subject to good will) I am arguing that the first look should be at no cost, as I have believed that the problem was fully repaired. I have also been leaving my mini parked, loced, and expecting it to be safe when I get back!!

Is anyone suffering the same problem, still.

Anyone else been in discussion with BMW.

Cheers.

Do you have comfort opening (keep the unlock button pressed (5 seconds?) on your remote and it will open your doors, lower windows and open sunroof (if fitted))?

I didn't know i did until i found the car like this, due to the remote being accidentaly pressed whilst in my pocket in my house (not sure how).

Hope this may help

Yes, I do.

Unfortunately the keys were in my pocket and I was fast asleep in bed on both occasions.!!

It is an idea that it is a fault with that mechanism though.

Cheers.

I have this on my 53 plate One, was it an optional extra when it was bought new (I got mine used at end of December so wouldn't know). Also does it just undo the windows/sunroof, logic would say holding the lock button would do them back up...but mine doesn't?

Is it an optional extra for the windows to open if you hold the button down? Just asking because mine doesnt seen to want to do it?

It is a memory setting in the car. The dealer can plug your MINI into a computer and change quite a few settings e.g automatic door locking etc. Look in your handbook for full details. Oh, by the way, they won't do it for free
