The thing is the chip isnt a direct result of the power steering pump going, all it is, is a memory file and nothing physically is altered on the car.

Chipping a car is perfectly safe, thats why all car tuning companies do it!

The reason the car wont start is probably due to an electrical fault, or maybe the starter motor has gone aswell?

Alex

Just off the fone to BMW. Apparently the car wont talk back to there diagnostic computers. They sumhow got it started right enough, but without a proper map on the car its not running properly at all ! They are checking all the electronics at the moment. So although bluefin was involved, this may have been an electronic error in the car! I did notice when the power steering died that all the lights flickered, and the dials moved about a bit . They just told me it definatly wont be fixed 2day, or prob 2moro Thanks for the replys guys!

ps. Starter motor was working fine, it turned over but wouldnt start.

My Mini broke down aswell earlier!

Was at a junction and i heard this weird noise from the car, pulled out to go straight across and it didnt feel very responsive!

I then sat there for 5min on tick over waithing to pick my brother up from the bus stop, when he had arived and we drove up the road and i floored it....... and nothing no wheel spin, nothing happend, it just bogged down.

Then at the next junction i indicated to turn right and someone flashed their lights to let me go, so i pulled across the road and it wanted to stall!!

I pulled over and phoned Mini emergency services and they came out and ran a diagnostics on it, and what had happend was the ecu decided to go into safe mode due to the oxygen sensor.

The guy re set my ecu and turned out the emissions light, now the car doesnt rev up and down on tick over like it did before, but it sounds ruff because im told the ecu's learning curve has been wiped and it has to re learn everything.

The car runs fine now so was just a little scare, wonder if my bluefin will go back on 2morow?

Has anyone else had this?

Alex

Mine does occasionally stutter and rev up and down of its own accord, but after a while it picks up itself?
