I must admit I always take a deep breath whenever I swap the maps with my bluefin in case something like this happens! My first suggestion would be to postpone your appointment with the dealer and give Superchips a call on 01280 816781 or email bluefin@superchips.co.uk. Hopefully it won't come to this but to put your mind at rest, Superchips' own warranty should cover any repairs required if BMW deem your warranty to have been voided: In the unlikely event of bluefin being responsible for causing damage to your vehicle, Superchips will, under the terms and conditions of their warranty, repair your vehicle. The warranty is not intended to replace the existing manufacturer's warranty, but will supplement the cover to include the parts deemed to be excluded by the manufacturer. Contact Superchips for full terms and conditions. Good luck mate, hope you get it sorted.

The only thing with foning superchips is that i dont know if i have warranty with them?i never sent away the wee form that came with it? Anyways the power steering at been threatening to fail before i got bluefin, always on and off, and the day finally came on saturday. It seemed to cause electrical problems, when it failed the dials on the car went mad, and the lights flickered. So im thinking the pump has shorted out and damaged the ecu. I really am pretty worried at the moment.

my power steering motorboard was working intermitantly and it completely failed. Sounds like whats happenedto yours. Nothing to do with the chip mate. I would ring Superchips about advise to get your motor back on line again and then just take it in. Loads of people don't bother to detune the car and get BMW to carry out work.

Ah I see, so sounds like the ECU was knackered by the power steering failure/electrical short, before you even tried to use the bluefin. If that's the case then I'd let BMW sort it. Even if they detect the remap (unlikely) they would have to prove that was the cause of the damage, which is much less likely than the 'blue sparks flying' when the pump failed. BTW if it does come down to it I think your Superchips warranty should still be valid if you have proof of purchase. The fact that your little postcard got 'lost in the post' shouldn't matter

Hes got to get it back on the road first though. That would be what I would be conserned about. Its not starting at the moment. Speak to them and ask their advise about getting it started again and then take it to BMW. It will be covered by the warrenty no problems.

Just a little side note....If BMW reflash your ECU with Bluefin on and it gets deleted, Superchips will reset your handset for free. My advice would be to let BMW fix it not mentioning the Buefin ( they will not notice it). Then send off the unit to superchips with the little form that came with it saying that your dealer reset your ECU and you would like the software updated. This is exactly what I did and it worked for me

Try this mate!!!! Hi MiniOneAndrew, I must admit that when i had a crash, my bluefin wouldnt come off, but did after about 4 attemts it finally came off! This may not sort your problem but it is well worth ago!!! Follow the stages: 1) put key in ignition (do not twist the key yet!!!) 2) press and hold the odometer reset buttom. 3) While holding the button down, turn the key to the 1st position, (the screen will then say "test" and then a number apears. 4) scroll through to test 19 and wait a moment. 5) after a short pause the screen will say "log i off" then "log i on" and then back to "log i off" again. 6) when "log i off" apears press the button again. 7) scroll through to test 21. 8) when you get to 21 it will say "reset" on the screen, press the odometer button again while the reset message is displayed. 9) the dash lights will go out and you will hear a buzzing sound. wait a few seconds and the dash lights will come back on. 10) now turn off the ignition, remove the key and wait a few seconds... 11) then try starting the car! hope this helps Alex
