looks good, FYI if you take off the cold air feed (the pipe between the filter and the front of the car) it sounds a LOT louder but obviously you lose a bit of the advantage of cold air

I've heard that, is it a VERY noticeable difference? And does performance go up or down by taking off the cold air feed?

It is quite a bit louder but in a nice way by taking it off you basically have a sandard pipercross induction kit but with a carbon fibre heat shield so in theory performance wont be as good as if you have it on but it will still be better than the standard airbox. TBH I didnt notice much performance increase from standard airbox to Viper with cold air feed attached so I took it off.

Holy crap I decided to take it off at about 11 o'clock today, and jebus christ am I glad. You're right Crammy the performance gain isn't all good with the Air Feed on, but my god does it sound nice now!! Bring on the Milltek and Bluefin

The new look...

Hi Crammy,
I got the bad news today at the MOT center that my rear exhaust is "badly rusted", so looks like I've found the perfect excuse to put to the other half about buying the Miltek Cat back system I've drooled over for months.

And now after seeing your video I'm certainly getting one.

I also run the Bluefin with a Pipercross Viper filter but was in two minds weither to go for the Janspeed manifold too, but with no head work I'm not sure of the potential power gains?

In your video did you have the cold air feed disconnected because it sounds nice and deep or is that the tone of the Miltek?

Hi Minione Sam,
the Vipers are a nice mod. as you now know, but I found the cold air feed pipe was just a bit fragile and after a couple of weeks it fell apart on me (reinforcing spring came apart).

I found a really good replacement on Demon Tweeks Motorsport site, they do a double skinned reinforced pipe, in red, very fexible and good for temperatures upto 300C (used for brake ducts).

Cheers RHCC, I bought it secondhand and could notice the slight wearing on the air feed (spring popped out, stitching loose etc). I've disconnected anyway to give it a nice throaty roar

Also I haven't got my Milltek yet, but just by disconnecting my PX it's got a nice throaty roar similar to the video, the Milltek will severely enhance it though when it comes to me getting it

Hi mate, I was also debating whether to get a manifold but after seeing a few in action they seem a bit too loud for me, they are supposed to give a bit more power though. in the video I did have the cold air feed disconnected but I think about 70% of the sound was the exhaust. One thing that surprised me when I got the Milltek is that you can't really hear it inside the car, however outside the car it seems you can hear it more than the Viper

I don't suppose you have a part number for the reinforced cold air feed pipe from Demon Tweeks? Or maybe even a photo of it fitted?

Hi everyone. I have had a scan through your comments on the viper and Milltek etc. I have a standard 06 cooper, looking at doing a few mod’s however dont want to put any crap under the bonnet! With previous cars i have put K&N induction kits on with little benefit with the exception of induction roar. In fact, performance went down and fuel consumption up!

Without spending too much cash, what would you reccommend in terms of simple mod’s. I.e. Air intake, back box, perhaps ignition (spark plugs - that kind of thing)??

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys!

Wouldn't consumption going up be a good thing? Do you mean you burnt more fuel or your fuel lasted longer?
