Digial Speed in a mini one - 2002

Just bought a one, build 2002. Does the temperature gage turn into a digital speed readout? If not is there any other mods that can be changed, as the later models have this function.

mine doesnt have it but you are supposed to be able to change the function on the left hand stalk somehow, I think it was an optional extra. There was a thread about this a couple weeks back as i wanted to retro fit the on board computer but didnt know how feasible it would be, ill have a see if i can find it!

2002 build MINIs don't support an instantaneous digital read out, this is only available on late 2003-onwards MINIs with the BC2 specification body ECU (the earlier one is called BC1).

niccc - on board computer is relatively easy to retrofit if you're happy to take the dash and speedo out. If your stalk doesn't have the button then the best bet is to keep an eye on eBay for a replacement stalk and get a cable set from a dealer.

If you do have a button then it's a case of having the computer functionality programmed by a dealer (which you'd have to do with the physical retrofit as well).
