DIY Transmission Problems

I recently bought an automatic 2004 Mini Cooper and was enjoying it until I started to get some vibration in the steering while braking, deduced it was the driver's side drive shaft so decided to changed it yesterday. However, upon completion, now my transmission does not appear to be working properly, as when in gear it takes time to engage drive or reverse, then at one time sort of jump and now it only shows P and N when moving the selector. Could I have damaged something or is this a result of the lost fluid. Ordered new fluid and will change later in the week. Appreciate your feedback.

Yes probably if you lost some when removing the driveshaft, its very important to keep an auto box correctly topped up with fluid.
In fact any gearbox/axle needs to have the correct amount of oil in it, otherwise it will cause wear, noise, overheating and or faulty operation.

Thanks for the feedback. Hoping that things will resolve themselves with the fluid change.
