Hi guys were looking at buying our first mini and would like to get one with the newer engine in, we have been told differant things by differant people so hopefully you can clear it up.
Did the engine change when they brought out the facelift model in 2006 or was this 2007?
did they put the new engine in the facelift model or did this not come until 2007?
The Tritec (BMW/Chrysler collaboration) engine was used in 1st Gen models (hardtops built through November 2006 and convertibles built through July 2008). The Prince (BMW/PSA collaboration) engine was used in 2nd Gen models. A change was made to Prince engines effective with March 2010 builds.
The term "facelift" applies to mid-life changes made to each Generation.
