All R50 MINI's have an imobilisor but alarm was optional, early pre-facelift Mk1 MINI's have a flashing red indicator tip on the RH stalk if they have the optional alarm. On later Mk1 MINI's the RH stalk tip is amber for the washer bottle level warning and the red alarm tip if fitted is on the LH stalk. The alarm can be retro-fitted diy with a BMW kit.
