Replace battery MINI ONE Convertible

With the sun shining I decided to drop the roof for the first time this year. Unfortunately it would only retract so far as when it was opened just over the back seats there was a grinding noise; which sounded just like the Bendix spring in a starter motor when the battery is dying. So here we are after 96,000 miles my April 2006 baby needs a new battery. Until now there has been no indication of the battery going flat but I decided not to get caught out with the roof stuck down. Got my local non-MINI garage to fit a new one.

Now another problem seem to have arisen!.... I have re-covered the roof with RENOVO which has made it look new again, but the roof now seems to catch onto the tops of the roll-over bars when retracting down. I wonder if this is due to the new stiffness in the roof canopy due to the 3 coats of REVOVO I have covered it with or due to some change of height in the actual roll-over bars when the battery was changed! Strange problem I know ...as I cannot see how the battery can have had that effect.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK. It's the next day now. Tried to lower the roof and all is well. The folds go where they should. It's obvious that the 3 coats of RENOVO had stiffened the fabric a bit, but with a bit of pulling to get it over the hoops which I did yesterday, it seems to have solved the problem. Hoods folds nicely down again.
BTW, the reason I had to apply 3 coats is that I had the misfortune to follow a tractor which had just exited a muddy field....and yes, I got the full lot over the car. Washing wouldn't take the worst of it off. One of the side effects of living n the countryside
