England Window and wiper electrical fault?

My wife's 2002 mini started having these problems three weeks ago:
drivers and passenger windows only work when you "flick" the switch for up and down. They open and close slightly as normal when opening and closing the doors.
Initially I thought it was the old smack the door trick needed but obviously this is different.
The wipers don't "home" properly, it takes four or five attempts before they settle in the correct home position (front and back)
I checked the ZKE module and it dry as a bone, it had the old clear plastic stuck over it so I purchased and fitted the black solid cover for it.
the fuses and relays are all in working order, there are no other electrical faults.
I have fitted another earth wire to the wiper motor just in case it was that but that hasn't made a difference.
I am at a loss.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am currently driving the car as she is scared in case something else fails on it.
