Wot Can Your ONE Do?

Hi All,

Just thought I'd tell you, I insured my best mate who's a test driver for all sorts of things including rally cars on my ONE yesterday and he took it through its paces!!!! WOW!!!! All ONE drivers should be proud!!! Never debadge your car its a beast!!! He did a so-called "rather lacks" 0-60MPH time in it and got 8.3 but he reckons 7.8 secs on a proper circuit!!! And WOW can he drive it!!! <SO JEALOUS> Made me look like an old-biddy!!! Anyway, we popped out last nite to the front and took on a few cars so I just thought it'd be nice to make a list of what cars youve raced and beat!!!! So anyone like to start off?? (these are from last nite)!!!

1. FIAT PUNTO SPORTING TURBO
2. FORD SIERRA 2.0I
3. AUDI TT 1.6 STANDARD
...
...

Anyone going to the BEST OF BRITISH cruise thing???

Cheers,

Pat

Well whatever it is my baby with a wicked driver (my best mate) still whooped bottom!!

Frankly I can't believe you can say "huh right" . You're a ONE driver and you know what it can do surely!! My dealer even says that ONE's have a quicker acceleration than Coopers !

I must say, get the gear changes just right and get an open road and it really isn't hard to whoop-ass! I mean the Fiat provided more of a problem than the TT! TT's are super fast in 5th but we had this 21 year old boy racer astounded when we beat him off the lights!

The Punto was just a case of dropping from 5th to 3rd and letting rip! I was truly amazed at what my ONE was capable of!

Have faith in your ONE!

Pat

:)

yeah, the one has longer gears

And a tun in 3rd is always a good thing

But 0-60 in 8.3?

I find that hard to believe.

I honestly did too because I wasn't in the car and the time and so it didn't seem it was going that quickly but his mates where he works occasionally timed us!

So I tell you what! Next time your at a set of light with no cameras or any obstructions whack it into 1st put your foot to the floor until about 30MPH then whack it into 2nd and you should get there in 2nd with the revs about 5500!!! You should see what I mean!! Bearing in mind it did take him about 5 attempts to get that but 9.5 was the max. and 8.3secs the minimum!

Its fantastic!

Pat

PS. You going to the Best Of British or Mean Street cruises this weekend??

0-60 in 8.3 from a 100bhp engine and 1000kg + car? I thought only the skyline defies physics.

Those standard titties have 180bhp I think, and will hit 60 in 7.9

The punto is only a 1.2, quoted at 10.9 seconds, so walking should pretty much beat it.

Ford sierra 2.0 - sounds like cooper territory, but then the sierra might win on top end if it's in good nick...

It's nice that you've had some fun, but the figures do seem a little dubious... you only have 100bhp remember.

No offence,

Dom

Don't worry MrMini748, there's always one. Anyway, he's not the real Dom

Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40

well my one can do 74 mph on the dual carriageway, i reeved it out in 2nd gear cant be good but wanted to see what it could do aye it also kicks the arse of all the novas saxos 306's etc that seem to kick around with the rave music on tinted windows and dodgy 16valve stickers on them

Fantastic.
Their are two guys at my work, one with a TT( 1.8T, 180HP) and the other with a Civic Type-R. Think I'll have to teach them a lesson in my ONE sometime

Seriously. I love my ONE and believe it is faster than the figures suggest but 8.3 seconds to 60 - I don't think so somehow.

Less power and a longer final drive ratio than a Cooper - there is no way it can be faster.

BTW the Punto Sporting is not a Turbo, 1.25l-16V, 80HP.

The previous ones were 1.4 Turbos... don't think they were called sporting though... somehow, the words "punto" and "sporting" seem not to mix

Is the red line at 30mph or are you saying you're best to change up early as you'll accelerate faster in second from 30mph in 2nd?

If it ain't what's the rpm at 30mph?

100mph in 3rd? Seems weird when the top speed is 115mph or is it ?

Anyone been faster

The Punto GT!!!

I know a guy who has one, with an uprated turbo, dump valve, some stupid exhaust.

He reckons it's kicking out 200bhp, and I don't know if it is, but it can't be far off at all! He beats Cooper S's & TT's in it. He wants to race a CTR! any takers?

Alex.

Black and White Cooper here, soon to be an Electric Blue & White S, with the WORKS!!
