I've just talked my mother-in-law out of a toyota yaris and into a mini one auto poverty-spec. She's well chuffed and I'm grinning after saving another soul from boring car hell!

whats the collective noun for minis?

I suppose hers and mine would be a 'Brace'

ps, on a test drive, as an "S" owner I was expecting a bit of a slug in the auto "one" but was I surprised???

the cv gearbox is a gem and the overall package is one of a premium classy little car...I know she'll love it.

That's weired though!! My mum-in-law is in the market for a new car and is talking about a Yaris too. She has to have a small auto car. She likes our ONE, but I haven't convinced her to go for the Auto MINI yet? Currently she runs an auto Fiesta 1.4
What tactics did you use? The MINI is a lot more expensive than the Toyota, so that's not a tack I can use.

Its an easy thing to do

just write the costs down on paper for a mini and a yaris with similar spec, DO NOT FORGET THE PROJECTED RE_SALE VALUE at the end of your likely ownership and work out the OVERALL cost of ownership....here is where the mini wins hands down! its retained value is the key to cheap motoring.

It took me a few cars to realise but the biggest cost BY FAR is depreciation....minimise that and you're laughing.

I think I worked out an auto base-spec one with tlc is about £1700 less over 3 years than the equivalent (GLS auto) Yaris. and what would you rather have!??

You can have your cake, eat it AND come back for seconds!!
