Rev counter

Our Mini One hasn't got the rev counter as my partner said it looked odd perched onto top of the steering wheel Now that we've sorted out that little disagreement - I won !!! - can someone tell me if this can be retro fitted on a DIY basis or should I leave it to the dealers to sort. Any parts nos / advice greatfully received.

There's a "how to" link in the technical section of MINI2. Takes a dealer 1.5 hours to fit it apparantly which is probably £75-£100 labour.

Don't know how how much the parts are.

Tell your wife it would only have cost £50 from the factory !!!

... and if your driving postion is anything like mine you won't be able to see the top part of it for the steering wheel rim. Still, you can see the red-line which I suppose is the primary purpose.

An old thread, but at last I got round to getting the kit to retro fit the rev counter .
Really surprised to find the wiring loom already in place so just had to plug the new unit in. Rev counter works, but coding is required as a couple of the warning lights are permanently on and the word "Code" is displayed.
Spoke to a local dealer this morning who admitted they'd never heard of coding work and quoted an hours labor to "check the wiring" - which was already there in the first place ! Has anyone else had any coding work done in the South Wales area ??
