Staff discounts!

is it true that BMW/MINI staff get a discount on their minis??

if so, why not take orders from their mates....buy them....and then sell them on at cost?

surely we could set up an online mini dealership doing that! hehe

I'm sure there's some clause that they have to keep them for so long or can only supply them to family members or something - pity.

If BMW MINI staff started doing that - I think they'd get the DCBM from their bosses. Don't Come Back Monday! .

I bought mine through my dad who is a BMW employee and you have to keep the car for 11 months which stops employees making a quick buck.

Doesn't stop you buying a new one every 11 months though..

Oh and I might be wrong but I think they can only buy cars for themsleves or close realtives

my dad works for bmw and i have a mini one and my nan has a mini to that she bought on discount through my dad. So the clause is only relatives can by the cars on discount. Also there are several different contract lengths. 12 month, 36 month etc. And the staff discount he got was 33%

Interesting - I guess you get a better rate of discount if you agree not to sell the car for a longer period of time......thanks for that info, I'll investigate this

33% to BMW employees/family members

Is that why the rest of us get nothing

I'm happy with no discount from dealers of a new MINI as long as they offer a decent trade in

I think offering BIG discounts (like Citroen do) only badly affects re-sale values.

Sorry guys but it isn't 33%, its about 13% (for MINIs anyway, I guess it could be different for other BMW models). And there are no other schemes or rates you can get according to my Dad. Also you have to keep ownership of the car for 11 months.
