Question Going for Gold

My Wife has ordered her Mini One

Options

Solid Gold Metallic £250
Kaleido Black Cloth £0.00
Sports seats £170
Velour Mats £50
Storage Pack £50
Air Con Auto £830

Came to £11885 on the road.

Interested in any opinions on options chosen and we never haggled over price. Should we on further options as we forgot to order alarm?. My wife keeps her cars for a long long time and it took the fact that she had to choose between my year old Fiesta 1.6 ghia a new KA or a new Mini. We narrowed down the choice based on that if she did not want the Fiesta she had to pick a new car so we test drove each and the Mini One was the best which was expected given the price.

My main question is over the choice of seat? The test drive had standard seats which seemed fine but we preferred the Kaleido cloth so had to upgrade to sports seats. Have these proven comfortable to other owners?

BTW her old car is a 1989 Micra so you can see she is going from non league to premiership instantly. She found the power steering more of a solid feel on the Mini to the other new cars as she did not like the Fiesta's power steering felt too light.

Suggest you get the SALT pack. The MINI looks weird without the rev counter. You also get a few useful features like a height adjustable paseenger seat, interior lights as well as the storage pack and mats which you've already specified.

I'd also suggest alloys wheels (2 styles available for £270) which really make the car look better.

Welcome to MINI2 BTW.

Hello,

The wife looked at all the SALT PACK (now £350 because trip computer included) options and thought she didn't need or would use any of them except mats and glove box. She does not want alloys in case she scratches them parking near to kerb.

Is there any photos of standard interior anywhere as there were none at dealer?

Thanks

Even if she doesn't want the SALT pack I'd highly recommend the rev counter.

A VERY high proportion of MINIs will have SALT pack so may be an issue for re-sale.

If she went for standard AC taking SALT would work out about the same price.

What parts of the interior in particular are you after?

The main dash area. There where no cars on site to show and dealer could not find any pictures. But we now want to see what it will look like to make sure we are happy with order. For example if we have the standard (grey colour I think) are the door handles matching or black and silver?

Thanks

You'll have ordered the anthracite trim. It is probably a better match to the gold than the brilliant silver which is £100 option.

The main bits in the door are matching. Have a look at this pic
http://www.mini2.com/gallery/persona...a_s9lp-429.jpg

I got silver as I thought it would match my silver car. Don't think silver would go with gold though. Anthracite is still popular and is said to hold up a bit better than some of the silver bits.

A word of warning regarding the door trim when selecting the anthracite interior.
Unless you order half or full leather seats you get no anthracite oval bezel nor the lower door pocket trim. It just remains unfinished. This does not occur with the silver interior, where, whatever the seats covering you end up with the door fully trimmed in silver.

For reference, refer to what I believe is the latest Mini brochure 311 050 024 21(L) 1 2003 GM
under the heading - interior equipement - the top picture on door trims for the Mini One, Mini One D and the Mini Cooper. This shows what you get.

Hope this helps in understanding your choice.
I also agree you should seriously consider the salt pack, and alloys finish the car off well.
I can understand the additional cost problems but why not save a couple of bob and select the manual air con. instead of auto. You have total control when you want an extra blast etc.

Thanks for pointing that out. I take it means you cannot choose to have those parts finished in anthracite with the cloth seats?

I'm confused by this Tumblewood What do you mean unfinished?

The normal for doors is the oval bit is lacquered (i.e. shiny) and the door pull bit in the middle is unfinished. I think.

Didn't think the seat choice had anything to do with it.

I've checked out some pictures and can see what you mean. Like a matt finish on One but shiny like dash on Cooper but you say it is related to leather rather than model of Mini?

Thanks

You will LOVE the sport seats. Just did 1,200 miles over two days and felt great. Enjoy your new baby.

Yep, I mean an unfinished door panel, unfinished with no shiny bits. I have been asking why my wife's One does not have this. It was when the dealer pointed out the page in the brochure that all became clear.
I have a sneaky feeling some One's have sneaked through looking at some of members galleries.
Oh! of course you get an anthracite door pull, but that is a matt finish like the centre down tubes.
Choose the silver interior and hey-presto you get the shiny bits. Don't ask me why.
Looks like you have to order half leather as a minimum. Mad world isn't it.

Agree with KenL. Go for the rev counter. Didn't want it myself as I thought the gauge looked like an afterthought. Once I realised that an outside temperature display was also included, that made it worth while. Don't you need the rev counter to display the OBC or has that been moved to the speedo gauge?

Yes the Rev counter is needed for OBC and temp gauge. I know boys like all the toys but the Mini won on quality of ride not on extras for my Wife.
