| hey JP, good choice on make of car for a youngun. The ONE is certinally the better choice for someone on the younger end of the car market, as aposed to the S. I myself am only 20, so the insurance is still quite hefty. I have spent probally in total about 13/14k, only mods ive done are vipers and chrome shark side vents. Im planning to put clear rear lights on, and to get the one click chip. Apart from that, i dont want to do too much. Oh, i also have an IPOD installed. |
| ||||
yh, so how much is that on mods? Im talkin minus the car prics, i can get my mini pretty cheap from my dads contacts, and his wallet. But he probably wont want to be spending any money on my "go fast antics" In my other threads i have mentioned what i plan on doing to my beauty, making it a cooper s-a-like. The iPod install is going to have to be on of teh first things that i get, i have seen one on here, some chap made a dock in a cup holder, all linked up to the stereo, using the steering wheel controls, looks the dogs nuts. Cheers JP |

| If you can afford it you should go for one of the body kits (I think the BMW Aerokit is the best as it is subtle but makes the car look so much better) and a nice set of alloys like the 16" x-lites as fitted as standard to the CooperS. Should be able to get all of that for about £2K and it'll make your car look great. MINI One Convertible Hot Orange, Full Aero Kit, Heated Sports Seats, X-Lites, etc |

yeah i looked into the aero kit, but when people started mentioning the cooper s kit, i fell in love. The cooper s looks on my ONE would work a treat i think, especially with some light decals, quad front lamps, bit of chrome here and there. I think i could do all of that and have change form a grand. This was gonna be spent on the engine, maybe chipping or an air intake, depends how i feel. Thanks for the advice though, if i dont get the cooper s kit, aero is my next option. JP |

| Hi there, Good choice in car and welcome to the club! I've done a few things to the appearance of my mini one. I've bought a few things from a cooper s because I prefer the styling of the parts not that I'm trying to be a cooper s. I hane one written wherever I can still. I'm proud of my one! Silver stripes £100 Off ebay: Cooper S Bumpers and grille front and back £250 Cooper S Side skirts £15 Cooper S fuel cap £30 Cooper black gloss wing mirrors £25 Chrome interior (stick on stuff) approx £75 New Boost radio to replace the wave £15 Shark fin side repeaters £25 So at the moment i've spent about £500 on my car so far and it is very distinctive and different. Just need my aero spoiler (£200) and my 17" wheels (£1000) and I'll be finished! Good luck with the modding mate and try and do everything yourself where you can. Its fun and scary at the same time! |

laura, nice going, that is my exact plan for my one. same as you, im proud of my one, but would love a cooper s. hence only contemplating the badges. So for £500 i could get myself a mean looking ONE, and then a bit more for an install and some engine tweaks, then im sorted. So far it seems that looks are more important than performance... might have to go for a blend of both though. Anyone know bout the european run?? Thanks again guys and gals JP ![]() |

Just checked your gallery laura, very nice... one comment though, it mite be advisable to blank out ur plates un ur pics, its amazin what some people can find out about you by ur details like that, just a tip for the future... JP |
| |||
| Yeah I know I should have blanked them but I'm going to update my gallery soon. I have done a few things to her since those pics were taken. She has cooper s side skirts and fuel cap now and black gloss wing mirrors, looks good! I love ferg's car but I've told him that before! I love his aero sideskirts with normal bumpers! Looks smashing! Also the white is glorious! |

Laura, you seem so proud of doing ur mods yourself that u have inspired me to join you, dont know how much success i will have, but hey here goes nothing. Bt yer the white one looks awesome. loving the gallery. Just wondering has anyone tried lambo doors on their minis at all, or does anyone know someone who has, i dont know if i want them, but wood love to have a quick look at some pics thanks again people JP |

| There is a MINI in this month's GoMINI that has got the lambo doors (along with other bits that have resulted in a build cost of $100,000!) MINI One Convertible Hot Orange, Full Aero Kit, Heated Sports Seats, X-Lites, etc |
| ||||
| Lambo doors cost just over a grand. There's an advert in Go Mini this month for them I think. I'll have a look for it. As for mods - exhaust/intake are a must, don't be a ponce with bodykits and wheels! Big wheels weigh more anyway and slow you down (at least that's my excuse!) Get a car that sounds the nuts and worry about looks later. As an aside, £500 for painted arches looks really good and is alot cheaper then a bodykit. Alot less common too! 2001 MINI One, Chilli Red, 130 BHP, Big Grin! ![]() 2003 MINI Cooper S, Chilli Red, 163BHP, Even Bigger Grin! |
