Does your MINI ONE (engine) sound loud and hot?

Just wondering whether your MINI ONE engine sound loud and hot? My one indeed sound very loud and hot..

My engine sounds 'normal' but I have cluncking noise coming from the gearbox housing when I operate the clutch Do you have this noise ?

The '05 Transmission is supposed to be quite clunky and is almost impossible not to crunch when selecting 'reverse'. I am used to this because my Saxo was exactly the same. Don't let it get to you!

Also, it has a whine that begins at around 5000 RPM to the red line. I like that nosie though!

Overall I like the growly engine tone and think it is part of the Mini's character.... Enjoy it!

I do like mini's engine noise as well. On mild weather I open both windows to hear it singing on accelerations from stop. However I was disappointed to learn it's not a BMW developped engine, and some magazine rated it as a mediocre engine (I strogly question this rating now). But looking at the BMW engine equipped future Mini (for 2007 I think), I honestly prefer the current model

I picked up my new (and first) '05 Mini last week and have noticed the clunking noise when operating the clutch. I wonder if this is just something I'll hear while running the car in, or if it's a feature/fault...

Would love to know without having to call the dealer.
