Dissapointed

I got my mini one back in July. I have to say that I think it looks fantastic, with my 18 inch wheels, spoiler, Cooper S skirts, and lower springs. The only thing I am dissapointed in is the build quality. It seems to rattle and buzz everywhere. It went into the dealer last week for the seat belt and sunvisor rattle, but they didnt fix it. I tend to find myself driving round with the radio on very loud all the time. How does everyone else cope with the rattling. Should I just look at the positives of the car?

I think in general that all cars have the odd buzz or rattle,i know most of mine have but unfortunatley because of the MINIs short wheel base and hard sporty ride its accentuated.I've took mine in for a rattling speedo...they took out the dash to replace the speedo and ripped the dash...then replaced the dash, but then the dash squeaked and rattled they then then took dash out packed it put it back in and ripped it again....etc etc

Finally got a dash that wasn't ripped (but still isn't fitted quite right) and it doesn't rattle or squeak.Only problem now is the noise from the speedo is back ...so i had loads of hassle for nothing.....all of a sudden the noise isn't quite so annoying.

When I picked my MCS up on 1st March this year I was really pelased with it. Took it home, drove around a bit, still loved it, then got a couple of niggling rattles and did feel quite disappointed as my previous Cooper had not had a sinlge rattle, squeak, etc., etc. Anyway suffice to say, I lived with the rattles for a month or so with them really annoying me and me listening out for every new rattle or squeak. Had planned to take it to the garage to be looked at, didn't have time but guess what? All the rattles etc. have now gone! I think it was just my car settling down. I had posted in a faults thread about my seat making a bad noise and the widscreen crackling sound but somehow both of these have gone and my car has not been to a dealers since I picked it up.

Give your car a couple of weeks and if the noises are still there, then take it to the dealers and see what they say. Otherwise, just turn the stereo up!

Happy driving!

My car suffered from rattly dash syndrome, but bmw repositioned it, and its now rattle free...apart from my aftermarket HU rattles a bit, as does the pillar next to my clutch foot, but i think thats due to my knee resting on it.

My car's passenger door doesn't currently want to open from the inside, and can only be opened from the outside, so another trip to BMW is in order! Apart from that, all is sweet.

Like mentioned before, it tends to have a bedding in period...but if it persists, take it to the dealers. Let us know how you get on.
