Surprise busted so need advice guys!!

Well has most will know on here i have been modding my mini one , i recently got fitted some KW springs to lower her , well the other night i put my foot in it by telling my partner that i would have liked the wheel arch gab to be less , so i just found out tonight that she has been looking into coilovers for me! She does not know i know YET!

Well from what i gather she has seen some that are called Cobra EVO-1 at a price of £420 for the complete set , my concern is that when i look into them there is not much info and their site is not the best IMHO .

I know it sounds like i am being a cheap skate but i really don't want to spend £600+ for a few more inches! No jokes please! I am also concerned on the fact that my new Scorpion exhaust sits lower , i would hate to trash it on a speed bump!

Another thing guys is that at the moment my tyres are 205/40-R17 so if i change the tyres to 205/45-R17 then if i am correct this will infact decrease my wheel gap , my only concern is that this may lift the car more than i would like from the ground?

I have had to work through this summer and i paid for my partner and her friend to go on holiday so she wants to get me a present but i feel this may be a waste of money for our needs, its just for the look

So thats where she's been!

Well she now know's that i know , oh and i did not grass on you ryan
She is not happy but thank god i found out! i feel sorry really but she actually thought £420 was expensive for coilovers!

I have had a look at Hartge220 thread and his KW's on the bigger tyres looks the dogs ****** and the car still looks low to the ground.

Switching to 205/45-17 tires will reduce your wheel gap by 10.25mm and raise the ride height by the same amount.

Well guys had a think last night , it comes down to the coilovers or the tyres , these are the coilovers......

Pictures above were taken from this link......

Orranje Performance proudly present - Cobra Suspension - totalMINI Forums

Not sure what to do yet , one thing that is swinging me to the coilovers is that the KW springs are bouncy on the road and can get annoying on a longer journey .

Just don't know if these coilovers are good? they are meant to be the exact same as AP's which the same person can get for an extra £20 more but highly recommended these.....

That is possibly my most favourite saying when it comes to everything.

Sometimes there are exceptions but generally its a rule that I follow and hardly ever is wrong

Thanks Ryan!

You will understand where i am coming from then , i haven't once yet put any cheap parts on my mini , i honestly think spending the proper money of £800-£1200 to lower her another inch or so is just insane! if i bought coilovers i would never adjust them and more than likely they would seize over time because of me, also buying 4 new tyres when the ones on her have only done about 600 miles

Think i will be happy with the way she is just now , i don't regret getting the KW springs and on the correct road they are fantastic!

Hmmm , now onto think about carbon fibre mirror caps!

carbon eh? Are you made of money Harvey?

I'd have a go at wrapping them with either 3m 1080 series carbon vinyl or Helix if you can get it.

Really easy to apply and looks good in moderation.

Lol , me? No! My misses? Hmmmm

Your spot on with the wrapping, they are far to easy to be stolen! I was just thinking of the mirror caps and the boot handle just to break up the silver and chrome look like I did with the chrome grille but used black spots which I like.

Yeah. Not a bad shout. It's pee easy as well. I did the steering Wheel spokes and dash pieces in my r56 MCS and was a doddle.

If you have the black spots though why not have a go with glossy black vinyl?

Id love to get the whole of mine wrapped in matte white. Not gonna happen though

For the wing mirror covers? is that just the same as the carbon wrap stuff?

I did think about doing the dash surrounds in carbon but didn't know how easy it was to do and also don't want to go over the top with the stuff , i did do my downtubes in carbon and i love it! but it was a bit of a pain but it was my first go

Yeah same 1080 series 3m stuff.

I took my dash parts off to do it but easy enough to do.
