Strut Brace

Anyone fitted an upper strut brace (MCS). They look great but do they do anything noticeable? Are they worth it?

Not got around to this yet but id also fit strut intruders along with the brace as this more or less eliminates the mushrooming effect on the N/S strut tower. @JohnnyC will be the one to offer you full guidance on this as he has done it to his MCS

I've not fitted a strut brace, although I'm after one to replace my strut tower defenders.
So if you'd get one, get one with chunky bits that sit over the strut towers

Currently I've got...

Strut tower defenders

Under tower defenders

Cabrio braces (only a direct fit for facelift cars)

IMO, the cabrio braces did make a slight improvement to the handling, so I'd expect a strut brace to make similar improvements. Although there's bound to be those that say there's no difference

I have a GTT front brace on my car along with the cabrio braces.

You definitely can notice the car is a lot sharper when going into corners.

I have one the same as the GTT one except it is bronze coloured and doesn't say GTT on it!
It was on when I bought it so don't know how it was before.
I like it on there as it looks great and if it stops/reduces any chance of mushrooming then it's staying there. ☺

The GTT one is one of the very, very few that's more than just cosmetic. Fit all 4 GTT braces for a huge improvement - it'll cure most of the rattles in an R53 too!

Tigger, Eeyore & Roo, thanks for the useful insight.
Where did your user name come from if I may ask? I lived in a house 'on the forest' (Ashdown) for 18 years with a fanastic view looking south to Gill's Lap - The Enchanted Place in Winnie the Pooh. It is the larger clump of trees on top of the hill in the distance in the middle of these two pics.
Cotchford Farm where Christopher Robin was brought up is about a mile away. Also bought later by Brian Jones of the Stones and where he drowned in the swimming pool.
In fact Cotchfod Farm is up for sale (on Rightmove). Only 1,859,000. With a swimming pool!

You're welcome. The combination of the GTT upper brace (that everyone knows), their lower brace (directly under the engine), their mid brace (bridging the "transmission" tunnel - under the gear lever) and the boot brace (across the boot, from suspension turret to suspension turret) will transform the way the car drives when fitted as a set.

I was known as "Tigger" where I worked at the time - something to do with me coming into the office asking for things and "bouncing around like some demented Tigger", I was told!!

When I joined, the name Tigger was gone However, my Mrs, usually known for seeing the worst in things, sees Eeyore as a realist, rather than a pessimist and happily relates to Eeyore. My daughter was 5 at the time and would jump up and down when ever something was very exciting (come to think of it, she still does!!); Roo only seemed natural!

And yes, we all liked Winnie the Pooh! Sounds like a good place to live to me
