I’ve test driven a
MC with SS+ and 5-Star 16 inch, the car was build around September 2004. After observing and measuring it became clear that this car was about 10 mm. lower on it’s wheels then a
MC with the normal Sport Suspension and the same 16 inch wheels and tires.
My Dutch dealer tells me that the test driven car is as delivered from the factory.
The importer in my country (The Netherlands) and other dealers tell me that there is no difference in ride height between SS and SS+ ! They say it’s just the difference in roadholding caused by thicker anti-roll bars, other bushes and struts. I’ve seen a Cooper S with the same suspension and 16 inch wheels and also this car showed the difference in height !
To me the car just looks much prettier with the SS+ minus 10 mm. but now I am not sure that I will get the same looks when ordering a new car with SS+.
What is the true story ? Is there a consequent ride height with SS+ from the factory ?
Are there more differences observed between same kind of spec cars concerning ride height and springs ? Please help as I have to decide this week !
