The traction system is not capable enough to react properly with all the extra torque so it turns off (good!). This happens on a lot of modded MCS's with good power when driven hard, even JCWs can do it (Paul Mullets I think was one) . Best Regards Roland GT Tuning

I always switch the DSC off when I'm on the track - once had a nasty moment on the Nurburgring where I'd forgotten to turn it off and it cut in on the exit to Brunchen, needless to say we swapped ends and it was all I could do to keep the car on the blackstuff!

Generally I keep it on when on he road unless I'm in serious "play" mode

Since the conversion, the traction system seems to be learning to stay out until later - when I first upgraded it cut in all the time, now it seems to wait a bit - of course this may be down to road surfaces etc.

I have 11K to go before the next service - if BMW mess with my flash I'll be cross

11k before the next service. Sounds optimistic - I got 8500 out of mine before the first service! Love the sound of the 220 bhp conversion and feel the MCSC needs some more horses!!! Only 5 shopping days until Christmas - Still time to buy myself a present!

Russel,

It really transforms the car - makes you wonder why BMW didn't do a 200 plus bhp car as standard and have the Works push out 240 odd.

I'm already planning my next upgrade (oil catch can to increase inter cooler performance) and maybe a BBRair scoop venturi to get mre air flow.

My only concern is what my dealer is going to say when I roll in for a service (next one will be at about 20K miles.

Just got back from spending Xmas back home in Scotland. The drive up there is about 240 miles, 180 of which are motorway and the rest some tasty A-roads (A701 or A702 depending on weather and mood). We decided to go up in economy mode, mainly coz I was full of a cold and, rarely, had decided to let Mrs Colink drive. Well, more steer actually because I made her set the cruise control at 80. I took over for the A-road bit but wasn't in the mood for heroics so took it pretty easy and only needed GTT power on a couple of occasions to overtake.

The road home tonight was awful - snow and sleet and rain and ice so again I decided to set the cruise at 80 and take it easy.

I'd forgotten how comfortable the S is at normal speeds. At 80 it settles into a gentle cruise, the exhaust quietens down nicely and, with a bit of moozak in the background, auto wipers set to 'on,' the xenons and foggies lighting the way, heated screen preventing misting and climate set to 23 it was like pure luxury. We even got just over 30 mpg for the whole trip

I used to do that run loads in a Lexus IS200 and I really don't think there is too much in it for motorway comfort - well, not enough for me to want to swap back again, anyway.

So, why this tale of extreme grown-up-ed-ness in a GTT thread?

Well, as we passed the Blackpool turn-off we also passed a Pug 106 with the nastiest of chav bodykits. Unable to contol his urges he clearly knocked it down a gear and sped off up the inside lane. I let him get his nose in front before retaliating with a 'ealthy dose of GTT ooomph. Needless to say we left him for dead Aint it great to have all that power for when the mood takes you
