JCW exhaust (difference)

im trying to find out if my JCW exhaust is incorrect
i have a hardtop

can someone with a JCW cabrio tell me if their exhaust has a flat section just before it splits into two pipes before the mufflers

mine has this but all the hardtops ive looked at with JCW kits have a round pipe the whole way

any info would help please as noone is telling me why they ordered a new exhaust
(i am a mechanic so thats the only reason i can see why it would be different)

i see it as a restriction in the setup for the hardtop as that kink isnt needed

I've got a Dec 04 build MCS, JCW kit fitted at PDI, mine's has the flat section

Yup. I have a Mar. '05 build, dealer install with the flattened pipe. I wondered if it was meant to be there so I asked a tech at work ( I work at a dealership) and he said yes, it was.

It's "one size fits all" with the JCW exhaust - so the flat section is there to clear a strengthening rib on the MCSC.

It reduces the cross-section quite a bit doesn't it?
