I Drove a week without an airfilter and the cowl hole cut out! Oops

I had a shop instal the Mini Mania CAI. Drove the car for about a month and a half with it on. Then about a week ago I thought I was imaging that the car had slown down a great deal and didn't seem as smooth. Backfiring had amplifed... Hmmmm

A day at the carwash solved the problem. I opened the hood to dry the excess water off and noticed that the filter had come completely off. I reattached it and the car drives great again. Do you think I did damage to my engine and do you think I should change the oil even though I just changed it less than 1000 miles ago?

Well, it wasn't a good thing that's for sure.
Changing the oil won't do anything do don't bother.
any wear would be in the induction path particularly the SC.
A lot also depends on where you drive. If you're on a lot of dirt roads then you would have sucked in more grit.

Nothing you can do about it so just drive on.

Well.... true to what Obe said... but it's good that your car didn't seize yet... And if it does, make sure you put back on the original filter box first, for obvious reasons.

And if you haven't been travelling in dusty or dirty roads... well, there shouldn't be too much damage done...

It's really not that bad... but you're covered by warrenty since you've got around 2 years left...
