Cooper chipping

Haven't looked into this recently - the last time I looked (couple years ago) you couldnt really get a chip for a Cooper that did much - just 8bhp increases or something and not much difference, for quite a lot of money.

The only engine mod I've done to my '03 Cooper is fitting a Typhoon - is there anything relatively low cost (under £300) that I can do to give it faster acceleration and/or more torque? Preferably without having to fit any new/different hardware parts.

you cud try a bluefin, basically a superchip that you take on and off yer self, can be had for 300 quid as well

as for gains yer not going to be talkign loads, maybe 10bhp becuase you have a filter?

it'll be noticeable tho

speak to lohen they'll sort you out

How noticeable?

For £300 it'd have to make a good bit of a difference in acceleration!

depends how you drive the car I guess, don't expect to knock 2 seconds of your 0-60 but there will be more power and smoother delivery through the rev range

don't forget nothings free

Unfortunately there is not much for less than £300, as you have a cooper the engine is already working pretty well (compared to a One) so a simple remap is only going to get you a few bhp. Once you've chipped One/Cooper the prices for the part becomes the same as they are practicly identical in the engine.

However if you throw in a few mods (manifold, throttle body & if you ar crazy enough a cam) then you will get some decent power. If it is not too much hassle for you then come down and have a look at our Mini One, it hasnt had a crazy amount of money spent on it but it runs pretty well.

Cheers,
Andrey

Andrey: just looked at your site...the biggest Cooper package I've seen is the one at £999 that includes an induction kit (which I've got) and an exhaust (which I don't want)

Could you possible PM me, reading the post above, with a few custom mods I could do to substantially increase the acceleration (and maybe torque) in my Cooper?

I've been looking at GT Tuning and what they've done on this page, for reference:-

Sorry Andrey this was my post in another thread:-

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about maybe doing some performance mods on my '03 Cooper.

I've just done a Typhoon so far (bit of a difference but minor) and Magnex exhaust (but took it off 'cos I didn't like the extra noise, and it didn't increase the power much at all ).

I'm hoping to get a good bit more acceleration in 2nd/3rd/4th, and also (if possible) more torque in 3rd/4th, but more acceleration is more important

Ive looked into Superchips etc., but they only provide marginal barely noticeable gains, so I'm looking at maybe a full performance package from somwhere.

The question is, what package, and where from? I'm in Leeds if that makes any difference!

I'd be looking to spend up to £1500 inc. vat and fitting.

Anyone have any suggestions?
