Catch Can Sludge

I Installed the Alta Oil Catch can and now I am seeing a brownish white sludge like substance begging to accumulate under my oil cap and the surrounding areas. I took my S to the dealer to have them look at the substance and they told me that it is do to the OCC has any one else experienced this problems

That is caused by water in the oil. On well maintained cars that means water is getting introduced from the outside somehow as opposed to a bad head gasket.

I have seen that mentioned by other OCC owners though.

I've been running the GTT OCC for over 6 months and even in our current cooler weather I haven't had any issues.

I think the word you want is sludge.

I had the Alta OCC on my car for a while but soon had it taken off due to it causing big crancase vacuum problems.

I'll have to bring you mine

I'd like to know what kind of OCC and how it is installed compared to the problem.
Some correlated data would be nice.

EDIT: Re read this. Let me clarify.
Itwould be nce to see if there is a trend pwople may need to be aware of.

I wasn't doubting what you'd said.

Hi Guys, This problem may be dependant on how the manufacturer shows you how to plumb it in , you certainly wont get any sludge in the oil filler cap caused by using the GTT OCC (as max says). AFAIK Alta still recommend an odd way of plumbing in their OCC (in a bid to catch any oil from the other part of the breather circuit), this may cause the problem you have? IMO the only way to catch the v.small amount of oil from upstream crankcase breather is to use a second OCC or even a breather filter . Most of the oil comes via the PCV valve anyway , to which GTT OCC is connected.
ps Been in hospital for the last month hence the lack of input on the forum, good to be back, and so nice to drive the car for thr first time in a month.!

Welcome back Roland! Hope all is well now?
On the subject of OCCs, what is the total cost of the GTT OCC to UK mainland? Does it include hoses etc or just the tank. What hose would you recommend if I need it?
While we're on the subject of GTT OCC, any chance of a group buy on this?
Thanks.

Stu
