United-Kingdom Bluefin Help!!

How safe is the superchips bluefin really?? After having a friendly chat with a mini dealer, i asked for an unbiased opinion on 'chipping' his opinion was that it can be very problematic and not worth it, since its like 'putting a virus into the ECU' which can lead to problems with electrics and silly things like that, which can end up costing quite a few pennies to put right.
I have a 53 mini one and it is screaming for a little more power! any thoughts?any happy or unhappy bluefin users out there?

Thank you!

From what i understand the Bluefin plugs directly into the ECU Port and downloads the current settings from your ECU.
It then replaces those settings with the upgrade.

The process is fully reverable at the touch of a button

I have not heard any problems arise from using one and i am currently saving up for one!!

Send RedUn a PM, he had one and it might also be lying around in his shed requiring a new home!

Thats exactly correct

I went for the Bluefin on my MINI One mainly because superchips offer a decent Warranty and are a well known company who have been doing upgrades for years!

It's not a 'Virus' It's simply allowing your car to do what it's capable of doing!

No complaints here id recommend anyone to go for it if they are thinking about it Read some more positive comments here after installation:

Usual dealer fob....don't pay someone £200 for a chip to give 30hp, when you can pay us £700 for a load of rather mediocre parts that give 10hp at most....you'll get a warrantee with our stuff

Most chips are fine, the more power they give the more they are running the stock parts of the engine to thier limit but the Cooper and ONE engines are easily capable of handling 130 hp if not a little more...JCG offer a 145 package for the Cooper I think so the engine must be up to the job.

Dealers will never want you to buy aftermarket stuff if it means they can persude you to buy there stuff!

Bluefin, MTH and AMD seem to lead the way on chipping for the MINI...there are other companies but I am not sure I would entrust my car to them, others may have used places and will help you out on these.
