Absolutely Root Ginger.

If as a result of the mod, the engine burns fuel more efficiently (i.e. less fuel releases the same energy for same air per combustion cycle, or put another way same amount of fuel releses more energy - the performance increase) than it did before, then less fuel will be needed per rev to maintain a constant speed.

That same engine revolution though, will still drive the car the same distance forward.

If that same mod generates more torque (throughout the rev range), then it would be possible to change up earlier (i.e at lower revs, so less fuel consumed) & this would also increase the potential for greater economy, if you chose to modify your driving style accordingly. So you could choose to use the mod to increase economy.

Will doing 70mph in 3rd gear whilst enjoying the absolute ear pleasing roar of your induction kit improve fuel economy????

No it doesn't.... but surely doing 70mph (the legal limit in the UK) in third and listening to your charger wail keeps the fuel down??!

Typing error meant 70

On that tank from the other day ive done 110miles(ish) and it's getting near half a tank, im guessing it's gunna be near 250+ to £40's worth

Couple of times ive had the air con on too with this heat, which won't help with the fuel economy

I think its car dependant. Some cars are guzzlers compared to others of same spec...no immediate reasons other than things like engines not as well put together???? Poor engine build quality will mean more fuel use to obtain same results (ECU should have same map). Therefore in some cases chipping may actually help fuel efficiency to a degree but it will be slight.

Ive just filled mine right up so ill let you know what I get £20 the other day got me 150miles(ish) with mostly spirited driving, that was with 15miles left on the range too!!

Well on that £40 I got 230 Miles with 35 left on the range, that was with a fair bit of spirited driving too Also using the air con in this dam heat!!

If you took it easy you could get over 300Miles to a tank I would think

At the moment I get around 35-40 MPG on my ONE (around 330 miles to a tank) which I am very happy with to be honest. I have just ordered a bluefin (which should be waiting at home!). I will post back with some results. I am also going to switch from using supermarket fuel (I know, I know!!) to Optimax as well as getting a fuel cleaner.

i normally get 300 miles to a tank on my one, with no air con and 205/45 r17 tyres which are properly inflated. this is a mixture of city, B road and motorway driving. i too am getting a bluefin soon so i will let you know how the mileage goes

Ditto except the intercooler. When I had the conversion done I drove down to Poole and used about half a tank, driving back after a fill up I used between quarter and half in similar steady motorway conditions. However the extra torque can give you the urge to drive like a loon occasionally (using the redline as a gearchange indicator, but only up to 70 of course) and drinks the fuel as you would expect.

As a last point get the conversion, it was the best thing I have done to a car and in my opinion make the S the car it always should have been

Back to this one again

Ive also noticed that if you use standard 95RON fuel then the next time use 99RON Fuel ie Tesco99 the tank of that seems to go alot quicker! I filled up once recently with 95RON BP fuel because I got cut short from Tesco's

Anyway the next £30 I spent on Tesco99 after the tank of normal BP unleaded has gone no where!!!
