always come on if its eml light its an ecu issue if its the one above its an emissions issue. bmw can turn them off quite easily (about £40 + vat) as can any garage with a code obd reader (normally for cheaper) more often than not its nothing. lights can stay on just because the petrol cap is left open. these (not traction control etc) lights wont turn themselves off and can only be turned off by an obd reader. you can purchuse your own for circa £90 from people like mini mania.

dont panic too much.... these cars can be very sensitive, normally just need resetting. which light is it and do you have and what mods are on the car?

Mine came on, the car drove like on 2 cyl, then drove ok but the light stayed on. Dealer just changed the throttle body assy, now ok.

Had that many problems with this car, but I still love it,,what is it with the mini??

managment light

the light thats on in my car is the one thats nearly at the bottom centre of the spedo.it shows a little engine sign in orange.i didnt have any clips around my throttle body to induction pipe but thats been like that for a few days and not caused a problem..as i said its running pretty much the same a normal so maybe there was a glitch and its sorted its self or maybe a sender is down like the lamba.but then wouldnt it run badly?hopefuly the computor will say wat sensor failed. wont it?

try leaving it for a while, then coming back and it might have gone away. My emissions light comes on for a few hours if I rev over 6,500 rpm

basically the same light as yours would come on on mine all the time. it was the lamba sensor, wich waas replaced at one point. in the end i had it taken out the system, having the setup im running it liked to trip it by a tiny amount. your car will run fun and you wont prob be doing any harm. if you go to bmw they will prob most likely reset it and clean the sensor to start with. also they will tell you if the car has ever been in for any thing similar etc on their system if you ask nicely. on mine it was somthing i learned to live with. its just bmw being overly sensitive

this is the exact problem i have on my 2004 54 plate MCS Convert...

Warning light came on and I took it in and Mini reset it, that was about 2 weeks ago...

This weekend the light has come back on, which I can't understand, as I have not been driving it hard, or anything unusual, and there's nothing that seems wrong with the car itself...

Anyway, it's booked back in as it's something that shouldn't really happen, so I'm hoping they will find something wrong...

If it is emissions though as previously mentioned, what's going on? Is my little S kicking out too much stink??

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated - cheers!

I have just been on the phone to Nick at Lohen, as the light on my Mini One is also illuminated. He thinks its due to the high flow cat on my new manifold. maybe one of the sensors has malfunctioned, but the car is booked into BMW next week. Part from the light the car runs great.

i'm taking mine in tonight and expecting it back tomorrow, so will be update this thread with what they find! i'll be quite mad if they claim to find no fault again, if the light is coming on there must be an issue somewhere...
