| GTT220 Performance Figures Hy all, ![]() Thought you might be interested in some 'real world' performance data taken from my GTT220 Cooper S. As measuring the 0-60 is very very aggressive to both clutch and tyres (and in a High Performance front wheel drive car a matter of 'hit and miss' with the amount of wheelspin per attempt), I thought it would be more beneficial (and less damaging to my poor car) to measure the 30-70mph times, which is a far better indicator for real-world performance anyway. The data was recorded accurately using a Race Tech AC22 Accelerometer, which has been recently re-callibrated at their Factory HQ. The runs were on the flat, 1 up (90kg), full tank of fuel, in the dry. Outside temp was 21.5 degrees, and Relative Humidity 61%. Traction Control was OFF (obviously!), as was the air-con/heating system. Fuel was Shell V-Power (99RON), and oil is BMW TWS Motorsport grade fully-synthetic (as used in M3, M5, M6, and Alpinas). The car is specc'd as follows : Mini Cooper S GTT220 Conversion (+ GTT 'Limit Stop') GTT Link Pipe (RHS silencer removed) GTT Oil Catch Can Tar.Ox 6 Pot Big Brake Kit (310mm Rotars) Non-Runflat AVON ZZ-3's, with approx 2000miles wear. Everything else is standard, although it does need to be mentioned that the GTT (MTH?) Re-Map has given the car a higher 'Rev Limit'. I made 3 runs, all from the same start and finish point, all from a standing start, with the AC22 set to only collect data from the exact moment I hit 30mph, and to stop at exactly 70mph. Although this data is not as accurate as the very expensive testing equipment that the magazines use, it is a hell of alot more accurate than ppl posting times taken with 'stop watches'. Here are the figures for each run: RUN 1 - 5.82s taking a distance of 507ft, peak power 173bhp @ 69.7mph (5.76s), with max G-Force of 0.47G RUN 2 - 5.55s taking a distance of 490ft, peak power 180bhp @ 67.3mph (4.82s), with a max G-Force of 0.50G RUN 3 - 5.33s taking a distance of 466ft, peak power 187bhp @ 68.2mph (5.04s), with a max G-Force of 0.47G As you can see, the times were getting quicker, as I started to get more aggressive with the starts, and I presume the tyres were warming? I decided NOT to try another run, as after RUN 3, there was a distinct smell in the cabin of warm clutch lining!!!!!! These figures are mightily impressive when viewed next to the figures from the car's main 'rivals', posted below (Autocar Magazine data) : SUBARU IMPREZZA WRX - 5.8s RENAULT CLIO 182 - 5.8s VW GOLF R32 (old shape) - 6.3s HONDA CIVIC R - 6.0s AUDI A3 S3 - 6.2s SEAT LEON CUPRA R - 6.0s PORSCHE BOXSTER - 5.5s AUDI TT 225 - 5.8s BMW 330 Ci - 6.1s As you can see, a 220bhp (approx) Mini Cooper S puts in a very respectable time, (rightly so, considering the approx power to weight ratio) and speaking from experience, I have *ahem* 'come up against' most of the above cars and have had absolutely no problem keeping up with them (almost driving into the boot of some of them, * *) , just as long as the Mini is moving (NB - 0-60 drags are a different ball game altogether, especially against the 4WD's). My data also matches pretty closely with RoadTest Magazine's recent Hot Hatch Showdown, where a 210bhp Works put in a 6.4s 0-60 and a 5.4s 30-70?I know it's all just a bit of fun, but I enjoyed doing it, and i'll be testing braking times soon, now that my Tar.Ox Big Brake Kit has 'bedded in'. ![]() ![]() ![]() (original review of my GTT220 Conversion linked below, for anyone interested ) http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...ng-review.html |

| I'm curious of the figure's of GTT's work due to my MCS being sorted by them. To be honest though, i'm not too bothered by the times. I know the car is damn quick now, sounds better (GTT re-route and JCW hybrid filter) and overall more fun Glad i spent the money in personal opinion. Checkmate mad owner |

| My 210 conversion has been on the rollers twice giving 251 and 220 the first was hith huge amounts if ice cold air piped (Powerstation) in and the second was at AMD with blowers just cooling the rads.!!! |

| Hehe..... I'd say 'Go For It' regarding the conversion. Over the years GTT has built up a solid army of fans, and deservedly so. They are thorough, friendly, and most of all, dedicated to the cause...... I'm due to have my car rolling roaded soon, so I'll update the posts with the read outs. MED PROTEK of Leics took my car out when they did the Brake Conversion, and they reckon (from their experience) that the car is 'more like 200 - 210 bhp'? Personally, i'm not that bothered about the 'true' amount of horses, it's damn quick and only really gets shown-up by serious kit like Mitsi Evo's and M3's. |

| Hmm. sounds about right too. At RAF marham last weekend there were 3 minis - mine (JCW 210 with gtt mani + cat, no resonator, GRS intercooler, eibach pro street-s, td pro race 1.2s and r888s), a ggr running about 270, and a facelift s with lsd and a few bits extra. Coming on to the main straight from a big 70mphish sweeping bend there was nothing in it. Couldnt catch the 270bhp but it couldnt get away either, all over him in the complex of bends though and he had to let me past . Jon with his lsd got the cornerexit speed right more often . MINIs seem to differ so much at the wheels i think anything between 210 and 280 bhp on paper would be very close on the road. Once your up to 210ish i think the money is better spent on other parts first before engine. | Yeah I agree with that regarding the differences in HP being slight once you get to a certain level. I've stayed with a Scooby WRX Sti from 20mph to about 110, (sorry, 70mph, officer ). It was pulling away, but only a few metres over about 1/4 mile! When we finally came to a halt (traffic lights) I pulled along side him, and he gave me a big smile, a nod and a thumbs up... before toasting me when the lights went to green......... (damn 4wd's )AC22 was from Ebay, but was sold as 'faulty'. I've since had it 're calibrated' at Race Tech's HQ, which is local to me |

| Numbers Very interesting. It would be cool to get some cars figured 'head to head' as it were. Almost like a Mini2 Tuner GP. Back in the day GoMini had a go at running some cars down at Bruntingthorpe, but it was a bit hit and miss in terms of comparisons as they were launching the cars to get indicative 0 to 60 times - so lots of variations on a theme. To do justice to this we would need: An accurate set of scales (to weigh each car) An accurate 'Racelogic Vbox' or similar A set fuel standard (Vpower from the same forecourt/same day) Ambient temp readings (wind speed, air pressure, air temp) Test Ground - airfield or racetrack A stock MCS pre face lift A stock MCS post face lift A MCS Works 210 A Works GP A GTT 220 A Lohen 215 A GGR A JCW MCS Challenge Car (210) and A MCSC Stock A MSCS JCW 210 we could run acceleration, in gear vmax, inferred power and g tests and generally have a fantastically nerdy time.
