ROBERT yes we have Insurance Companies which will reject a claim on the least evidence! Even for travel insurance. I had to break off a holiday because I suddenly developed serious pain due to kidney stones I didnt know I had.. The insurance (Norwich Union whom I hate with a satanic intensity!) rejected my claim because I didnt inform them I had kidney stones before I went on holiday. I wouldnt have gone if I had know I had the damn things! I only knew because of the pain> Yes, UK Insurance Companies will wriggle out it at all possible.

You could of course just tell your insurance company about the remap......

I have an AMD OneClick and my One drives like a Cooper now with better fuel economy and no lumpiness or flat spots. Smiles all round

The biggest downside to my MTH upgrade on my MCS was the 500-odd bucks it cost me (Australian dollars). Apart from that it has been a big positive. Forget about the MTH's claimed power results. Anyone who's done a bit of research would know they are questionable to say the least, but the way MTH Tuner file transforms the car, making it so much smoother and enjoyable to drive is where the real benefit lies IMO.

Oh, with my insuarnce company they don't care what mods I do, so long as they are legal. All good.

Using Shark 93, none so far except some light sooth in the exhaust tip after hard run.
Benefits: smoother acceleration, slight power gain, & peace of mind of not running too lean due to 15% red.pulley upgrade.

Hi, been having a laugh at some (not all, but most) comments here, ive got lots 2 say, pm and lets talk, 4 a bit of encouragement dealers cant tell a remap, and unless they c the box, on a bluechip then they wont know, infact it not a big deal, it is virtually impossible , an there's more.
pm me. spk to paul 1320's , Adam m' mania. or me, customer and nearly part new mini and bmw garage owner.

As b4byx says, it is almost imposible to tell that a car has been mapped via obd, you would need something to be able to read injector pulse width, ignition timing, throttle position etc dynamically and then you would have to compare the data to a std vehicle...................I doubt may folks have either the knowledge, kit or time to do such a thing.
Insurance companies are more likely to go for aftermarket wheels, suspension, exhausts etc.

Way to dig up a two year + thread to make those comments b4byx. Back in those days it was unclear what could and couldn't be seen by the dealer. Considering that Smub hasn't been around for a while, I doubt you will get a "PM"....

...now it's dug up, I have a question. I own two mini's, a 2005 MO & a 2002 MC. The MC had the broken seat recliner issue which I have now fixed. The previous owner had a go and removed the seat, now the airbag light is on. I have ordered a Bluefin to remap the ECU and hopefully cancel the airbag light.

Question is, can I use the same bluefin on my 2005 MO to up the power?

It will not.... The airbag is controlled by a different "computer", not the ECU. Also, you can only load one car with Bluefin at a time. You will need two if you are going to do both cars.

You mean dig up an old thread for a load of ******** ! If BMW wants to know or a crash investigator if your ECU has been mapped or not thats its no impossible at all. They know the ecu software version and so have a reference set of data to compare yours too. And even across many years old mini versions the maps have stayed pretty static.

Mini-Boy, the remap wont effect the Airbag module at all. Sorry it needs to be reset by a dealer or by using a laptop+ datacable or buying a reset tool. The ECUs are different models between the two cars but you could use the same unit. Sadly you will have pay for a new map and cost to wipe your bluefin.

Thanks for your responses guys, very useful.

I bought B200 yesterday from another member and that did the job with the airbag light, saved a fair bit of cash there.

I have also ordered a bluefin for my Mini One, should arrive soon, can't wait!
