Top your oil up to the max mark and see what happens. There can be a problem with the oil filter not sealing properly in it's housing. I had that on my Cooper and it allows oil to seep round the filter under high pressure.load. The oil pressure sensor sits at the bottom of where the filter housing locates. The oil seeping round makes the sensor think the pressure has dropped and so lights the warning light on the dash. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's

Mine was the same. I found mine triggered under load when ascending hills and was only discovered on a trip to Cornwall. Didn't do it on the long journey home but it was already booked in to be looked at. That was when the garage diagnosed the problem. Never ever did it again even when back in Cornwall! ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's

My wife just had a service and oil change done on her car. On the way home the car's oil warning light came on when she stopped for a light or stop sign. When she would start to drive the warning light would go out. She drove the car home which is about three to four miles from from our mechanic's shop. The next morning I got in the car and the oil warning light didn't come on. I drove the car around the block and didn't get the oil warning light to come on. We called our mechanic to bring the car to his shop. He checked the car out and couldn't come up with a reason the car's oil warning light was coming on. I got on the internet and found some information that was specific for a normal mini cooper. It stated that the oil filter cartidge slips over a perforated center core attached to the inside of the oil filter cap. The core is springloaded and applies pressure to seal the filter agaisnt the filter base. Could this be the problem or is the oil pump going out?

Did anyone come to a solutions as to why their oil light goes on after an oil change? I found that my garage has a habit of putting the oil filter up side down...but, this time when it happened I went back and had them turn the filter the other way and my light came on after that. Normally when they flip the oil filter the light doesn't come back on? Any other suggestions?
