GTT upgrade or similar - what about insurance ?

Hi folks - I'm seriously thinking about going for a GTT 220 upgrade but I'm worried about insurance.

If you had a GTT 220 upgrade or similar - by how much did your insurance increase ? This may sound naive - did you have to detail every change / part to the insurers ?. Lastly - who are you insured with ? - any recommendations ?.

Cheers.

Try Greenlight; they quoted me an increase of £42 for the GTT 220 I currently have a CAI, GRS IC and after market wheels.

Greenlight or Adrian Flux are the two to try.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Adrain flux for me. I'm 22 though so my age played a major factor in who i choose but they quoted me less for a modified checkmate than everyone else was quoting for a standard!

Checkmate mad owner

Yeah I still don't know how Adrian Flux can do insurance so cheap. I went from a Cooper Works 132BHP. To a highly modified Hartge Cooper S with 230BHP. Price increase £50. Everywhere else wanted double the price (although I didn't know about Greenlight then).

It was acceptable in the 80's

direct line wanted 10% more for my Works conversion, I never declared the additional GTT work, which added around 25bhp on top...

Funny thing is, most companies get real upset if you add a big brake kit, BHP deosnt seem to be that much of a big deal....

I had a BBK fitted, they wanted an extra £300 per year until I said that it was a saftey device. Then it cost me nothing ;-)

Don't ask.

Hi Guys, Adrian Flux have recognised/supported GTT conversions (performance suspension brakes etc) since 1994 ,giving excellent quotes & cover. Greenlight also seems equally impressive.
Best Regards Roland GTT

MINI Cover boiled it down to a policy increase the same as what the bhp increase was. So 20% or something. And since I moved to Nottingham, it's as good as negligable as the car is now parked secure off road and that's a saving of well over £200
