| I always found it a hassle to install axle stands, so, whenever i did anything that didn't require the wheels to come off i used ramps, far better and safer though that doesn't answer you're question From the picture you show, the green areas i'm sure are angled slightly downwards, so, when placing the axle stands underneath they simply slide away to a certain degree and you never ever get a good feeling about how safe they are. Again, from you're picture, it looks like i used the blue section which proved perfect for removing the front suspension. As an added safety feature i always placed the wheels i took off under the car on pieces of wood, just in case the stands gave way. BMW don't seem to realise that we mere mortals do not have hydraulic car ramps at home for simple jobs that we can do without paying for the exhorbitant labour charges Good luck |

| I would avoid the area marked in green. I normally put my jack (with a wooden block) in the middle of the large plate, over the round hole. Then I place the stands under the rubber blocks at the end of the sills. Putting the wheels under the car is also a good idea, im may damage them if the car falls of f the stands but just think what it would of done to you! If i doubt get a garage or skilled person to do it, it may work out cheaper in the end! |
