Could be more, or less, rolling roads are a bit of "black art", the only figure they can give with real accuracy is wheel horsepower, then they calculate, and these calculations, as well as the readings themselves, can vary from rolling road to rolling road. The best use for rolling roads really is for direct "before and after" readings and "dyno days" or shootouts where you can judge (roughly) like for like. Also, in general, it's regarded as not too wise to run a MINI Cooper S (or most Supercharged cars) on a "regular" rolling road because of heat/cooling issues.

What mods have you got and what bhp figure are you expecting? Our rolling road is pretty much spot on as it produces the same bhp as it takes us to run up the 1/4 mile. Good luck and do post your results First M45 Cooper S to run a 12 (12.96@105) On Nitrous 11.16@123 0-100 7.1991 ![]() http://www.1320MINI.co.uk

So Paul when are you popping over to put yours on the rollers?? First M45 Cooper S to run a 12 (12.96@105) On Nitrous 11.16@123 0-100 7.1991 ![]() http://www.1320MINI.co.uk

... high temp iridium sparkplugs, supercharger pulley, shorter drive belt, twin bearing idler pulley, induction system and exhaust re-route...was quoted at 220 bhp+ Last edited by Ven0m; Nov 24th, 2006 at 06:03 PM.

This is not uncommon, inflated numbers for the pub!, there are restrictions on the power obtainable without some changes,a major one being the cross sectional area of the plastic pipe between the throttle body and the charger (I assume its an S) it narrows so much it can only flow about 250-260 bhp worth of air on a good day . If you add together some of the individual claimed increases for components, exhaust, airbox, pulley, remap etc you can get a staggering increase on paper, to actually achieve that increase is more difficult ,minus 30 bhp is not that bad from claimed power .

im assuming your talking about the tuner im thinking of as my mate had the same on his S and he made 220 on the rollers could be that this places rolling road is off as paul siad its a black art as my bog standard cooper made 130 on the rollers so i would get a second opinion mate as if as i said this is the tuner im thinking of he isnt one for making up bhp figures as all the oher cars of his ive seen have made the quoted outputs and then theres also the factor that some cars come out the factory faster than others due to the nature of mass production minitorque.com, the site for mini performance, drag racing track days & time attack its all change for the S, to be revealed soon

We tested a Mini One last week and it made 100bhp 5 mins later Thomas swopped in a Cooper ecu and it made 130bhp then we swopped in another Cooper ecu and it made 129bhp so it doesn't surprise me yours makes 130 JWF First M45 Cooper S to run a 12 (12.96@105) On Nitrous 11.16@123 0-100 7.1991 ![]() http://www.1320MINI.co.uk

Bhp Its not as simple to get big bhp gains as every cooper s owner seems to think or is made to believe! As iv been told before take a 220bhp kit like yours and then add an exhaust manifold and intercooler and then you may just make the 220bhp that is claimed. In my opinion it would be very hard to get 220bhp out of a cooper s with the mods you have. its clear for all to see that the items you named are from a GTT 220 kit, so i would like to take this opertunity tosay that most of the people i have spoken to on mini2 say that GTT are the only company that meet their figures quoted, ie Ricky bought a GTT 260 kit and made something like 262bhp on the rollers. | I think from reading the thread - he hasn't been on the rollers yet - but has been told ahead of time that the result will not be what he has been quoted. tbh it is common knowledge that MINI's don't tend to RR very well. When tuners create a package it can sometimes be difficult to accurately say what the output should be. - That said - it doesn't excuse under performance. I have been out in Rich's car and it does feel & sound quick. I personally have chosen not to focus on achieveing a specfic power - but instead to make the car perfom to my level of satisfaction and give a better drive as far as I am concerned - this leave no room for disappointment if i chose to RR and get a slightly low result. | Also worth considering is kits will add HP, not get you to a certain HP. So if your MINI is 170 to start with, a kit could bring it to say 220. But if your MINI was 174, or maybe 162 to start with, you'll get a different end result. Not all MINIs are the same to begin with. |

cool well it was at a decent place (power station or lichfeild imports) minitorque.com, the site for mini performance, drag racing track days & time attack its all change for the S, to be revealed soon

For me this is spot on, its how the car performs on the REAL road that matter and yes i have heard that the cooper s fails to perform on rolling roads and in fact should'nt be put on them. a l t a - j c w - e i b a c h - u l t r a - g t t m i l l t e k - s p e e d l i n e

I would like to say before anyone says different ...that i havent said it hasn't made the stated 220...another tuning company has GUARANTEED that it wont and has offered, which i have taken up to do a power run and see for myself.... so i will see on wednesday,i was more than happy with the work which was carried out on my car so far,and indeed as T-Bone S has already said my car feels quick...i am just a little upset that i have spent out a lot of money and MAY not have received what it says on the tin.
