pulley reduction

Will getting a 15% pulley reduction significantly reduce the life of my supercharger/engine?
cheers

As long as you get a new ECU map at the same time there is no reason to worry, JCW use a 15% smaller pulley and look how many cars they sell!!! Just because they change the cat back and filter and a supposed Ported head bears no difference. The smaller pulley is the best mod you can do on an S apart from changing the supercharger completely

Taking care of business

add a GTT 3% lightweight oversize crank pulley with it and you will be talking serious fun!

Simply yes...but only by a neglible amount. This is why JCW use a 14.5% ish pulley. If you couple the pulley to a proper inproved map like the JCW one or a MTH/Superchips one (make sure its the suprchips map designed for reduced pulley) then it will reduce the extra wear even more and so the negligible will become even smaller. The addition of any part that improves performance will reduce engine life...useually though it is by an infantessimle amount as long as the part is good quality and not super over specced for the other componants in the engine.

As long as you keep up with the regular maintenence of the engine, you should have nothing to worry about.

I'm getting my first Mini this Friday. I've already pined over all the parts listed on minimania.com. Does the pulley reduction help produce more torque at a lower rpm? What other websites are there besides minimania for performance parts?

Thanks, I guess I need to spend more time exploring the site itself rather than just the forums.
