exhaust popping on cooper

hi there,
ive noticed the exhaust popping on my 04 cooper.it has the standard exhaust and its at low revs u here some sort of bakfire similar to a cooper S, but obviously nowhere near that loud. i was wondering if there are any exhausts which fit on thje cooper which will make that "popping" much more pronounced...i.e. free flowing exhausts?thanks.

any aftermarket exhaust will be more free flowing but the popping is more down to the characteristic of the engine setup than the exhaust. the cooper doesnt pop much but it can be made to do it at low revs or the best way is by revving to 4000rpm & feathering back. an exhaust change will just make it sound louder

mine pops (but then it dose have a induction kit) but either a milteck or janspeed exhaust will do a cooper well a better manifold from the above are also a good mod nothing like an engine that can breathe properly

Mine pop's like crazy, sounds louder that my mates Cooper-S with a works exhaust!

I've got a cat-back PlayMINI exhaust with a straight-through centre section. It's at it's best when allowed to engine-brake from over 3,000 RPM's in 1st gear.

found out today that driving with the back seats down produces far louder popping and is a very cost effective mod this side of x.mas,

best is fit a aftermarket exhaust (milteck play mini or janspeed) and if youve got the cash a better manifold the popping on an S thow is an after product of the forced air induction created buy the super charger so is a bit harder to achive on the natural aspertion of a 1.6 cooper without forling out for a full aftermarket system
