Not much "bang for the buck" from a larger throttle body. They might improve throttle response but offer little power gain.

tbh any modding of the Cooper yields only small power increases 'per pound spent'. Cooper S is the one to go for if power/modding is your goal.

Horsepower is not always THE thing!
Because the larger TB I can use my max. torque and HP earlier!
I have the TB of M7 Tuning, they flat the ash too for more airflow.

Thinking of getting my throttle body machined??? Does it make the car feel faster lower down?

I haven't had a look into the stock TB yet, is it a two stage type or a single valve? Also, what are the aftermarket offerings? There used to be a mod for the 1st gen water cooled VWs that was called a "Big Bore throttle body and it made the car much more responsive but virtualy undriveable!
It was like an on/off switch.
Swapping to a larger two stage TB felt better and did allow more airflow in at a time.
Is there also room for improvement in the intake manifold? Port and polish type work?

It's nice to start getting back int this stuff!

Does the larger throttle body make much differnence on the Cooper S, is there much involved in the fitting of it??? I assume might make it a little deeper on acceleration too, with potential for a few more pops from the exhaust.

On the cooper you are better off sensibly modifying the existing throttle body which will provide as large a power increase for less than a third of price! Quite a lot can be done to these including machining the screw heads, polishing and edging the butterflies
