United-Kingdom Best Induction kit for Cooper

Hi, having just bought myself a cooper and joined the group, heres my first post.
I'm looking to make it sound a bit "throatier"
Not knowing anything about the best way to do it I have been reading around the forums and am a bit cofused as to what my best option is. The car already has a scorpion exhaust but the rest of the engine is standard. A K and N Typhoon seems to be a popular choice but I'd like a few opinions. How will fitting an induction kit affect the mpg, insurance and would i need an ecu remap?
Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers,

i think both lohen and gtt recomend a new performance element in the normal air box for the cooper..... but i might be wrong.

but for sound will need to be an induction kit......ive always been a fan of K&N.

If your looking for the BEST induction kit for the mini cooper (non S) then you need GruppeM. They make high-end intake systems for many sports cars. As well as a kit for the Mini they also produce kits for Ferrari. Every carbon intake GruppeM produces is custom designed for maximum performance. Air-cooling, mechanisms and heat insulation are all taken into account when designing a kit. Performance gains of up to 8bhp. Because the system is completely enclosed it will not have the highest induction sound, for that you need a HKS kit.

K&N filters are the best in the world, this is why GruppeM uses them in all their systems!

One other small matter the £500 asking price.

If you want to keep an OEM look to the car, I have the John Cooper Works airbox for sale, which is basically a cotton gauze filter, new airbox lid, and acoustic tubing into the car for extra sound!

if your looking to make it sound a bit "throatier" the K&N 57i has a very deep note from it. You can pick these up quite cheap and they do actually help with lower down grunt abit

I've had a K&N panel filter, a Pipercross and a K&N Typhoon before.

I now have the AFE filter with heatshield. In my humble opinion, this one gives me the best results.
Throttle improved, mpg improves and no worries about soaking too much hot air in

gruppem

£500 doesn't sound to bad for a gruppem. i tryed their japanese website,, if you register wtih them and say you're a business they give a 30% discount, when i converted yen to pounds, it cae to around £420, once you add vat and customs charges, £500 isn't too bad! alot of people are charging closer to £600.
