19% + 3% crank pulley

Looking to increase boost.........who doesn't.

Does anyone have experience of the mentioned conbination or similar.

Can the engine, supercharger take an extra 3%. What are the limitations in terms of heat, efficency, reliabilty and rev limit.

Your thoughts please.

Thats a huge combo and TBH i havent heard off anyone with that setup, although im not saying there isnt anyone.

Reliability wise i personnaly would not go for that combination, im currently running a 15% S/C pulley with a 2% Carank pulley and the most id go is maybe to a 17% pulley eventually!

I currently have a 15% pulley and a 103% crank pulley.

Revs are up to 19.000 on the compressor, that's as much as it can take.

There is no use taking it higher, I run maximum pressure at 1,25 bar wenn full throttle in 6th gear. The compressor air temperature at 1,2 bar is very high, maybe too high. Even more pressure doesn't give the extra power.

If you haven't done already, you shoud take a big valve cilinder head, that wil do the trick. See my attached dyno where on the curve 3 I got too much pressure and the air was getting too hot despite the fact that I have a watercooled intercooler:

2003 Mini Cooper S:
1 (142 kW / 194 bhp / 232 Nm) = Digi-Tec (14% pulley) + MTH software and manifold + GTT CAI + Milltek exhaust + water-intercooler
2 (175 kW / 237 bhp / 260 Nm) = 1 + MiniMania valves ported cilinder head + 103% GTT crank pulley + individual software
3 (177 kW / 240 bhp / 282 Nm) = 2 + 15 % Alta v2 pulley + facelift compressor

We have never dynoed a 19% as yet but from what I've read that as the % goes up the peak comes down due to excessive heat and being out of the supercharger efficency window.

Bring it down / or up and we'll do some before and after runs on the dyno and record the intake temps, psi, etc etc

I am going to take the car on the rollers to see what temps, boost and fuelling the car is at.

Maybe then I will know if there is room for improvement.
I have the hargte performance pack with headers, sports cat, iridium plugs and gtt intercooler. The mapper said he can custom flash the ecu with a new map while the car is on the rollers. .....but it may be difficult to sqeeze more power out of the mods.

Currently running 250bhp without a head upgrade. If I spend About £1500 on a gas flowed head bigger valves and cams. I might get 275bhp so I have been told.

But I also have the option to have an Alta Turbo kit which is about $4500 delivered.

Which route would you fellow members take to get to the magic 300.

Eaton M62 compressor and water/methanol injection.

Stay of the turbo unless you don't need the car for daily driving, it will be half of the time in the shop.

So you've already had the car on the rollers to know that its making 250bhp

Do you know what software they are using for the mapping?

I don't want to be negative but 250 bhp with a standard head is impossible as far as I know, even with a 19% pulley.
Or your tuner has a very optimistic dyno tester.

I know 250bhp seems at bit on the high side. Powerstation done the rolling. I always take these figures with a pinch of salt......too many variables to consider for these things to be accurate.

As far as performance on the road goes I have kept up with an 300bhp MY00 Impreza Sti, Noble M12 and Porsche 997. Only tested the car in a staight line roliing start 10mph to 90mph. On a private track that is.

I have no idea as to the software. As far as I know they get map sent to them from a chap in germany. You may know the procedure it goes a bit like this.

Readings are sent to germany after a run in the car which includes the mods. Next a proposed map is sent back to the tunner and loaded to the car. There may be a few map adjustments before the car is setup right.

How easy is the M62 transplant?

We have acheived 213.36whp to run a 102.4mph (13.243) in the 1/4 mile at 2546lb 1157kg

I think 250bhp could be possible one day with a standard head but it would take a lot of trial and error, I was hoping you might have the magic formula.

Do you know if Power Station dynoed your car in 4th or 5th??

Sounds like an MTH map to me, ask them if they can move the rpm limiter to 8000

They have done quite a few M62 in the states now but for the money I dont think they are seeing really good results, but never say never.

If you have the money turbo only is a good way, the Fireballed guys have acheived 344whp on pump gas, there is a vid somewhere under the title Turbos R Us.

Roland has just completed his kit and is testing it at the moment, no turbo conversion is going to be cheap.

Adam from Mini Mania has a supercharge upgrade being developed as we speak.

So as a whole the Mini community is going to be really spoilt for choice by the end of the year.
