Roland sorted me out on monday with my cooper (not the same i know) and throughout my visit he was very knowledgeable, helpful and above all professional. I will certainly be going back for further work by GTT.
And if your lucky, he will let you touch his turbo conversion. mmmmmmm, nice!
What does this yo-yo effect feel like, is it because the throttle is so sensitive (after tuning) that for instance when you go over a bump in the road and your leg jerks onto the throttle, the car lunges forward and then back again when you take your foot off the pedal?
If so, this isnt necesserily a bad thing, it just shows how responsive our cars are that as soon as you even touch the throttle the car leaps into action
All cars are different and might suffer similar faults at different times in their life. I believe like Roland that the service intervals are to long for Minis espically the S, just the same way that your first mot is 3 years but you car could of covered 160,000 miles in that time and your car could be falling apart.
I think if you were worried about GTT kit you would of found something on this board to put you off by now, but all you see is praise, I dont see any connection with the yo yo and Rolands kits.
First M45 Cooper S to run a 12 (12.96@105)
On Nitrous 11.16@123 0-100 7.1991 It's not how much you spend but how well you spend it
Your so right Paul, like my minor problem with the T piece on the bypass valve, since Thomas sorted that out its been like very different car!!!!!! I think we found that tourqe which was missing on the Rollers the other week
Ok apologies to roland for pointing the finger there, just assumed it was due to the GTT package after seeing ANT FR's and Aberdeen Al's posts.
At the moment there are many pros and cons that I need to weigh up between the two companies to make a decision on who to use.
Lohen Use Alta parts (I favour these over GTT just because they are a larger company and probably have more RnD than GTT)
Lohen are £100ish cheaper
Lohen are 40 miles each way closer than GTT
But...
Lohen only use a 15% pulley, I'm really after 17% after hearing how much better they are than 17%
Lohen dont correct the bypass valve unlike GTT (easy bhp for the money it seems with no implications)
Lohen remap the car (really not a fan of these bluefin remaps, I've read on here that all minis are different and a remap should be unique. Bluefin is applying one generative map.
Alta are no bigger than GTT. They operate a one garage enterprise in USA...Just the same as GTT run a one garage enterprise over here. The R&D for them is the same perhaps even less than Rolands work. Roland does less variety of parts....but have a think...maybe thats cos he spends more time R&Ding those than Alta do so they have time to diversify?!
Alta stuff is good but on some stuff GTT are better IMO. I run Alta gear as its is a little cheaper as a rule but theres a reason for that
I know several folks with GTT and Alta car none have major issues and I'd not hesitate to use either.
My suggestion is get GTT stuff and have it fitted by 1320autos and get the Rolling road before and after...they are good chaps...plus reasonably local. lohen are good too but they don't have a rolling road. Go for what you can afford and build the package up in time...Its what I did and it gives time for you to notic ethe improvemrents or problems as they happen
Crikey Rigsy just seen your car exterior and set-up...we could almost be twins! I'll have to keep a lookout for you around Rainham and the Medway towns when i'm at the other halfs!
Im thinking as im the in the same county as richard he should take me for a test drive in his car so i can feel and hear what it sounds like, i know he has milly stuff too but still!
I think I'm going to stick with GTT now, sorry about sounding anal its just from looking and reading stuff and from odd comments ive obvisouly built up a false picture of GTT, main reason is probably just to me being a worry guts on this department!
Hey I know exactly how you feel, you just want to be right about this decision, my friend and I spent ages mulling it over, we ended up going down to GTT and staying the night down there in the Hotel recommended by Roland, both cars were down the next day. We both had butterflies all day, but once we got back in the cars, my god it was fantastic!
So far so good, no problems whatsoever, just an excellent job all round...
