GTT210 + GRS... where next?

Just making some plans ahead here... next mod for me will be KW V1 or V2 coilovers and Alta CAI.

After that I'll be looking at tuning once again, at the moment ive got the GTT 210 kit with GRS intercooler and Milltek cat back.

Hopefully this should see for around 210-230bhp?

My goal figure is 250bhp, dont want to go too mad and lose driveability... I still want the car nice and smooth to drive with smooth power delivery (maybe even smoother than I have now?)

I think everyone will be suggesting the GTT (janspeed improved) manifold, but what else will get me to that magic 250?

Thanks

George

Glad to see you are planning ahead

Too many people I know go straight for engine mods and forget about handling etc or even brakes

Don't know details on your request but good luck

Plan it out well and you should succeed

Just remember Prevention Is Better Than Cure

Well for the way I drive I actually find standard brakes fine for the moment. Obvisouly will be a future mod and I wouldn't ever track it with standard brakes.

I think the GTT upper strut brace will also not only improve the handling like the coilovers will but also help the car get more power down in some situations, maybe this will be better money spent rather than increasing power?

Thats a damn good idea

A friend of mine has one on front and back and he says that his MCS sticks to the road like the proverbial s**t to a blanket

only problem is now he eats tyres alot more (he does drive it hard)

Lohen suggested upgrading the anti roll bars when doing the coilovers as it makes sense labour costs wise. But at £400 extra I think I'll just stick to coilovers for the moment

I wouldnt bother upgrading the front anti-roll bar. Just the rear, to make the handling a little more neutral.

Personally, I would suggest leaving it as it is and enjoying it for a while before you decide exactly what else you need/want.

I had the gtt manifold fitted last friday with a lightweight crank pulley. The car pulls really well and sounds awesome. To get a bit more power you could get the custom mth remap which is available through essentialmini.co.uk. Also larger injectors would be a good idea for safety at the top end of the rev range and larger throttle body. These mods should see you to 240bhp quite easily. Anything higher than 240 you will be looking at head and cam work which can be quite expensive. Best thing to do is talk to roland at gtt as he has been very helpfull.
Hope this helps.

4-1 Manifold with sports cat, cylinder head, larger injectors, re-map if needed.

Dont forget to upgrade the brakes.

Handling can often mack up for the lack of power, so I also recomend a wider stance on the front (5mm or 15mm spacers) and strut braces to help.

If you do the rear sway bar you can use it to make the car more neutral (less understeer). You can always add a front bar if you wanted to at a later date. - Thats the advice I have been given when suggesting I wanted a neutral handling MINI.

Personally it would be brakes and manifold.

Even just going up to JCW calipers etc would be a massive improvement on the stock set-up on a 210+ car.

Injectors, crank, braces and rollbar +spacers would be next after that. Then head work

Hi, on the subject of handling I'll be putting together soon ,a GTT level 1 2 &3 Handling packages (fitted) . These will be based on experience & conclusions of 50% road use 50% track day use that weve put our car through , rather than out right track only (we can do that aswell it you want ....seam welding, weld in cage etc.).
-No puny or weedy parts included at any level.
Best Regards Roland GTT

I was in a similar position (GTT220 + GRS), I added the GTT top brace + already had the OMP lower brace and noticed a great difference/improvement in handling.

Cars booked in with Roland for its yearly belt change + GTT Manifold in November; hopefully I'll gain a little more power / torque + even better noise

GTT, GRS, Janspeed, JCW, OMP + various other bits - 232.6bhp, 191.2lbft on 1320's rolling road

Trust me the noise from the gtt manifold is very nice indeed. Also noticed a difference in performance.

Lucachiarelli, is that with the milltek system? Already find the milltek pretty loud, even drowns out the s/c whine over 4.5k

Loud is a very subjective concept. For me, GTT Mani +JCW cat is certainly loud enough (but not intrusive)...and JCW is probably the most quiet out there (sans OEM).
