This coming satruday will see my car, a 300 bhp Toyota Celica GT4 and a 310 bhp Nissan S14 doing battle on a desterted long and flat road in Milton Keynes to find the best time 30-70 in 3rd time using the racelogic performance box.
Paul, you're welcome to bring the 1320 car over for a go too, or anyone else for that matter as the performance box is probably the only way to get truely accurate figures.
I'll drop you a text Paul, be good to get the performancebox to work out fly and wheel bhp as well (see below), mine showed 219 bhp on your rollers and 215 bhp using the drag strip bhp calculator.
PerformanceBox can help you to measure the power developed by your car’s engine, either at the wheels or flywheel. Having set the vehicle weight, results are calculated from the measurements taken by the fast GPS engine to give you useful guidelines to the car’s brake horsepower or kilowatt output.
Because these calculations are made from the GPS data rather than accelerometers, your results are likely to be more consistent and accurate.
Results in BHP or KW
Measures acceleration to give instant power output at the wheels
Losses runs are used to calculate power output at the flywheel
Runs can be carried out in second gear at relatively low speeds
An effective tool for those wishing to evaluate tuning modifications
There are two parts to the testing process: the acceleration run, which gives you the power at the wheels minus the losses caused by tyre and air resistance. The second part of the test measures these losses and also estimates gearbox losses. The Power Mode is also an additional tool for car tuning, where access to a chassis dynamometer is not possible.
Yes it is, I think a really good M45 car could keep with it in the 3rd gear test but thats probably about all unless you have a blue bottle strapped in the car
First M45 Cooper S to run a 12 (12.96@105)
On Nitrous 11.16@123 0-100 7.1991 It's not how much you spend but how well you spend it
I managed a 30-70 time of 7.17 sec with a stopwatch. This was just 1 run though, so i will need to do a few more runs to make sure this time is correct.
My MCS is an 05 model, it has no engine mods, but i do have O.Z. Racing Ultraleggera 17" wheels on it but still use the stock tyre size of 205/45-17. The fuel tank was at least 3/4 full, tyre pressure around 33 psi and it was just me in the car. Air temp was around 10'C.
Was this a good time for a standard 05 MCS, or not ?.
Thats pretty impressive paul. Ive had one little go but feel the results on a stop watch are pretty pap. i managed 3 runs of 6.1 6.5 an 6.4 with the traction light having an fit but as i say i dont think it was very accurate tbh. Now i would like to have a go with big shows box of tricks, plus keeping at 30mph to begin with with a light weight fly wheel an crank pulley is interesting
