Its a fair point... but it should be the fastest time for a supercharged Mini with whatever mods and whatever weight taken out as at the drag strip/race track it would be the same. To be fair to Mini-Morgan I've only updated the times taken with the performance box as its his excellent thread not mine. I agree turbo Mini's should be in a diff category though.
The thread is only suppose to be a bit of fun and to give a basic comparison only for the test we are doing. One car could be seconds faster around a track or up a drag strip but this is aimed at real road situation instead of racing. This test is more relating to overtaking someone or just wanting to show how fast your MINI is. Torque is what counts through out the rev range which is why the test doesn't do the right low end and the high ends as you don't realistically drive in these ranges all the time.
I would guess that we're only a max 37kg lighter than BRM Cooper, I need to find something that weighs a 100lb so we can run it with and without and see the ET difference.
We will then be able to establish a formula that will able to work out what torque and horsepower is needed to run a particular 30-70 time.
First M45 Cooper S to run a 12 (12.96@105)
On Nitrous 11.16@123 0-100 7.1991 It's not how much you spend but how well you spend it
Ok, but can we have a 30 to 70 in second gear thread too. (yeah I know you cant hit 70 without raised rev limit) ..but Lees 2.85 second (2 up I might add) was mighty impressive and wheel spinning all the way
Just went for a run in my MINI and thought I would see what times I could get.
My MINI has the GTT220 with reroute pipe.
All of Rolands strut braces.
215/40 R17 Nankangs with after market alloys.
Just under 3/4 tank of fuel
Outside temp 10c
Roads mainly dry with a little bit of damp.
6.4
6.3
6.4
6.2
6.3
So average is around 6.32
I also had the rear seats removed which should counter act the weight of my sunroof.
But they are mighty cheap...thats why I have them. When you can burn off a set of 4 tyres inc Falkens, Yokos etc in less than 10k miles you may as well go cheap and live with the lack of damp/wet grip. The Nankangs seem quite poor in the wet but the grip loss is very progressive so it can be countered....not like my Falken which would just let go all of a sudden
yep the slip is so even/constant though the DSc doesn't seem to realise and doesn't kick in till you change gear and it feels the snatch before the spin ... if you spin them up slow in 1st and second the thing just wheel spins for metres and metres without the traction coming on
