I'd be on the rev limiter if I try it in second for sure.... I did do some 20-60mph tests which if I remember correct were around 4.5secs or less.

That 6.5 is suprisingly low for a standard car!

Problem is the smaller the time the more human error will be visible.....

4th gear 40-80 would be a good test too for torque.

I believe the facelift model lost quite a bit of ignition advance from the mid to high revs.

Mmmm I can actually set it to come on at 30mph and switch off at 70mph in 3rd and the data logger would record the time it takes

at last, someone has realised that 30 - 70mph, and 70 -90mph, far more important than, rolling road bhp, 15% pulley v 17% etc etc.
post GTT 230, Manifold, milltek back box. the car is absolutely awesome, on the motorway, keeping up with traffic flow, it is effortless at 70mph, in 6th gear, drop it down and the approx 177bhp per ton, really comes into it's own. the mini is all about power to weight ratio, add super handling and you are in lotus Elise territory.

30-70 mph in 2nd gear, average of 4.6 seconds... no need for third!

So the older box does have an advantage in the 2nd gear 30-70 test or you could call it the 3000-7000rpm test as its 10.05mph per 1000rpm

With the later box you would have to go to 7600 to reach 70 in 2nd

Yup, thanks to the long gearing on the older box 2nd gear is awesome at 30-70mph, I'd like to put it through the performancebox though when I get it back.. be interesting to see what other people get especially those with over 200 whp and an old box. There are some pretty amazing cars with similar 30-70mph times:

Impreza STI: 5.0
Evo VIII: 4.9
Exige MK2: 4.8
RS4: 4.1
Z4 M Coupe: 4.6

But the ones to beat are:

599 GTB: 2.6
LP640: 2.8
Zonda: 2.6
Carrera GT: 2.7
Veyron: 2.0

Come on Paul, load up the nitrous and see if you can wup the Veyron between 30-70!

I tried the 30 ~ 70mph in 3rd gear tonight and got the following results:

Run 1: 7.51 secs
Run 2: 6.96 secs
Run 3: 6.66 secs
Run 4: 6.84 secs

Judging by the times posted by others I think the above times are disappointing!

Car Spec:

MCS 2003
GTT220+
GRS I/C
GTT manifold
GTT 1% lightened crank wheel
Lohen enlarged TB
JCW Exhaust
JCW injectors

1/2 tank of VPower fuel
Outside temp: 4 deg C

Hopefully these times will improve once I've had my cylinder head, cam & larger injectors fitted at the end of the month!!

Those do seem low cosidering the mods you have mate. Especially with an outside temp of 4 deg C! You must be running 230 bhp with your mods surely?? Were you on your own or did you have a passenger?

Doesn't make sense, makes me want to go re-test mine now, feel like a fraud . Have you been on the dyno recently? I'd expect you to be quicker than me, I've no back seats but I defo weigh more than you so that shouldn't make a difference.

I've got a new application for my IPAQ that uses GPS to monitor speed but but sadly the best I could do was 6 dead on but I dont trust it as the GPS sample speed wasnt anywhere near fast enough. Tomorrows task is to find an application with equally good features that supports ODB2 instead and we'll see where we are. Failing that its the stop watch again.....
