R50 Cooper induction

Hello. I just fitted a K&N panel filter, replacing the stock paper one. I am thinking of taking out the plastic hose that goes in the airbox and in the resonator, and replacing it with a flexible going str8 in the airbox, and totally remove the resonator. Has anyone tried it?

Hi Nick, have thought about doing the very same on mine - I imagine it would increase the intake noise The resonant sections can be designed in to improve engine mpg etc as well as noise reduction.

I removed the air box ok, but the lower resonator won`t come away !

Good luck

Nick,

Anyone got any pictures with some arrows saying which parts are which?
  • Resonator
  • Airbox (where you put the filter?)

I believe the resonator also acts as a way of catching water if you inadvertently sucked in through the front grill.

Resonator is the number 5 on the diagram, airbox number 8, and the hose that has to be replaced with a flexible one is number 3!
