JCW AirBox Wiring

I have just purchased the JCW AIrbox setup, unfortunately it does not have the wiring loom with it. I have enough knowledge to make one up, and have all the plugs and connectors and also have the MINI pdf instructions.
The problem I have is can anyone draw me a schematic layout of the connections and colours of the wires so I can make the loom. I need to know which way round the wires go on the 2 pin plug on the airbox, and how does the wiring connect up to the fuse box and ECU.

If you didnt get the wiring loom, there was a little box connected to the bulkhead with the electrics. I think you may need it.

You would be better leaving out the electrics, removing all the vacuum pipe alterations, and the flap at the back of the airbox. Then you will be running it like the motorsport version and the engine can breathe much better below 4500rpm.

Many people fit the JCW version and then remove the flap at the back for more air. So its pointless connecting the electrics and the vacuum system, to operate a flap which isnt there.

Thanks for the information PMP, if I can't get any wiring info then that may be an option. I understand what you mean about the flap, but I would like to at least try to put the wiring in if possible.
Maybe someone has a bit more information they can supply.

Had a look at mine and ther is more than just a couple of wires, they go to the ECU and also go to a block?? then they go to another plug on the other side of the air box. I will go out and see if I can get some good photos for you. but it is not as simple as two wries.

Go for the motorsport modification like PMP is talking about. I bought his old airbox and fitted it on Saturday. All you have to do is remove;

• The cylinder inside the Airbox which is held on with clamp take out 2 screws.
• Back of the airbox remove flap motor held on with one screw
• Then four screws to take off the cover for the flap, remove the flap and tape over the hole with duct tape or insulting tape.
• Take the wiring loom of the bulkhead held on with 2 screws.

Its not actually that loud until you go over 3K RPM. The motorsport one has metal plate covering the hole for the flap mechanism and thats the only difference. I couldn't be annoyed with having to track cables and pipes would have taken hours. Should have it fitted in an hour and half.

Mine is the motorsport set up and its much louder under full throttle with a slight increase in air suction (wooshing not induction roar) noise under halft throttle and normal if pootling.

Thanks everyone that has replied. It seems it is more than just a simple wiring job, so I will have a look at what has been suggested and possibly remove the flap and give it a go.

Thanks to all the advice and replies, I am now sorted out. Again the MINI2 community / member came to the rescue, the correct parts have been sourced and are on the way as I write.

by any chance do you have a pic of the connector that plugs into the fusebox?

I've just fitted a s/h jcw airbox and the connector is missing so trying to work out if theres and replacement available
